Imagine this: a fighter wants to step into the Octagon with a living legend so badly, he’s willing to donate his entire fight purse to charity. That’s exactly the offer Siyar “The Great” Bahadurzada has made to BJ Penn, given that Rory MacDonald has withdrew from UFC 152 due to a nasty cut suffered in training.
Bahadurzada took to Twitter (https://twitter.com/SiyarTheGreat) to explain his reasoning.
“The only reason I wanna fight @bjpenndotcom is to test my will and warrior spirit vs his. I'm not fighting for money! … I'm willing to donate my fight purse to a charity to prove that it's not for financial reasons & will take VADA tests!”
Last month, Penn and MacDonald agreed to be the first UFC fighters to be drug tested to the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association. Obviously, the Afghan fighter had no issues with this stipulation.
While Penn has not given an official response to the media, according to Siyar’s Twitter, the Hawaiian already declined the offer.
"Hey MMA media mother*******! Stop talking sh** about @bjpenndotcom for not taking the fight. He didn't go for it and I respect that!!!!"
Bahadurzada has won seven in a row, making a statement in his Octagon debut by knocking out Paul Thiago in just 42 seconds at UFC on FUEL TV 2 in April.
According to Rory’s Twitter page (http://twitter.com/rory_macdonald), the gash he suffered in training required 38 stitches and he would like his fight with BJ postponed until UFC 154.
Meanwhile, “The Prodigy” would like the fight with MacDonald, one of old rival Georges St-Pierre’s training partners, to take place even sooner at UFC 153.
