UFC News: Chael Sonnen Says He’s Not Retiring, Eyeing Wanderlei Silva Bout

Despite being 0-3 in UFC title fights, and posting just a 2-3 record in his past five bouts, former middleweight and light heavyweight title challenger Chael Sonnen isn’t ready to hang the gloves up just yet.

On Tuesday’s edition of UFC Tonight, “The American Gangster” stated that he still has goals to achieve in the Octagon and he wants to settle some unfinished business with PRIDE legend Wanderlei Silva.

"Wanderlei called me out before, but the fight never made sense," Sonnen said. "Now it does. I'm not going anywhere until me and Wanderlei straighten this thing out once and for all."

"Wanderlei pulled a dirt bag move on me one time. He said something to me that I couldn't hear, and then put it on YouTube with subtitles because he knew I couldn't understand it and called me out. "If you're a fighter, that doesn't fly. You must respond to him, and I'm ready to respond to you, Wanderlei."

During Sonnen’s heated rivalry with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, the Team Quest standout regularly threw stiff verbal jabs at Brazilian fighters, Wanderlei Silva ending up in his crosshairs on a number of occasions.

“The Axe Murderer” has been criticized by Sonnen for a poor record under the UFC banner (5-7), but after his loss to Jon Jones at UFC 159 last weekend, Sonnen isn’t much better off with a 6-6 mark under the world’s premiere fight organization.

After a brilliant knockout over Brian Stann at UFC on FUEL 8 last month, Silva is 3-2 in his past five fights.

On the same show, Sonnen also indicated that he was done fighting at 185-pounds as long as “The Spider” was champ and planned on fighting at either catchweight or light heavyweight from now on.

Is Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva a fight worth watching or has the time come for the American to call it a career?
