UFC middleweight contender Vitor Belfort is oozing with confidence leading up to a rematch with Dan Henderson at UFC Fight Night 32 on November 9.
"I’m in a position that everybody wants to fight Vitor Belfort to get to the title," Belfort said on Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour. "The only promotion I can give right now is to the guy I’m fighting next. I’m focused on my division at 185 pounds and I want the winner (of Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva II).”
“I want to fight Dan Henderson then fight for the (middleweight) title. I have to beat Dan Henderson, who is a tough fighter, defeated some of the greatest fighters of all time. It’s a great challenge, a great opportunity for me."
Henderson defeated Belfort back in October 2006 in a bout contested under the Pride banner, utilizing his wrestling advantage to outwork “The Phenom” on the mat.
Since then, Belfort has won nine of his past 11 bouts, only losing to Silva and light heavyweight champ Jon Jones.
Belfort also shot down the notion that he recently declined fights with Strikeforce import Tim Kennedy and former light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida.
Ironically, Machida is booked to make his middleweight debut against Kennedy at UFC Fight for the Troops 3 on November 6.
The Brazilian knockout artist is currently riding back-to-back headkick stoppages over Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold and remains a force to be reckoned with at both middleweight and light heavyweight at 36-years-old.
Will Belfort make his dream come true and fight for the middleweight strap one more time of will “Hendo” stop him short in his tracks once again this fall?
