Top World Series of Fighting welterweight Josh Burkman is looking forward to a June rematch with Jon Fitch, a fighter who submitted him back in April 2006 under the UFC banner.

Speaking with BJPenn.com, “The People’s Warrior” stated that fighting Fitch for a second time is essentially a dream come true.

There’s probably not another fight that I would rather have besides Jon Fitch.  There are other fights that I want, but none that I want more than this fight … Jon Fitch has been the toughest fight of my career,” Burkman said.

“He probably gave me the biggest beating I've ever had in my life in or out of the cage.  I will go into this fight with a lot of respect for Jon Fitch.  He's the only person that's ever dropped me in my whole career.  I keep that in mind in my training, but, at the same time, Jon Fitch is definitely not fighting the same fighter that he fought in 2006.”

After being cut from the UFC in October 2008, Burkman has been on a tear, riding a four-fight win streak, also victorious in seven of his past eight bouts.

Despite a pedestrian 5-5 record in the Octagon, Burkman not only anticipates returning to the world’s premiere fight organization, but is also looking forward to one day challenging dominant welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre.

“There's one fight that I think all welterweights want, at least any ones that want to truly challenge themselves, and at one point I would really  love to fight Georges St-Pierre,” he said.

“That's like a dream fight for me.  I've got some things to do before I can really get to the point of talking about that, but I think I'm going to be able to do those things.”

Burkman made his debut with the World Series of Fighting at their second event in March, scoring an upset knockout over fellow UFC veteran Aaron Simpson.

Will Burkman shock the world by avenging his loss to Fitch or will he again get steamrolled by the high-level grappler?
