For those unfamiliar with FanDuel scoring here is the magic formula to picking a winning team;
Point = 1pt, Rebound = 1.2pts, Assist = 1.5pts, Block = 2pts, Steal = 2pts, Turnover = -1pt
Alright let’s get right into it. To submit a valid roster for competition one must add nine players by using a salary cap of $60,000.
VALUE PLAYS:
Courtney Lee Shooting Guard $5,400
Lee has scored in double figures in every game he has played this season. He is also rebounding and distributing at a better clip than his career averages. Memphis’ team is predicated on rebounding and defence which allows for transition buckets. Lee has been the beneficiary of some easy scores this season as Mike Conley is doing a wonderful job in finding Lee open looks at the basket. Great matchup here for Lee tonight as the Detroit Pistons roll into Memphis. The Pistons are obviously heavily focused on post play and with the Motor City Twin Towers clogging the lane, Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph will be looking to kick out to Lee on the wing for open looks.
Chris Copeland Small Forward $5,600
When one looks at it closely there is solid value throughout the Indiana Pacers lineup as Copeland, Donald Sloan and Solomon Hill are all exceeding their averages and outperforming their salary values. Of the bunch though it is Copeland who is the most consistent. Copeland will have to be prepared to take at least 15 shots tonight as the Pacers are doing a back-to-back here having played Denver last night and now they find themselves in Chicago. Copeland will have the green light tonight as seeing as there is no penalty for missed field goals; Copeland is a solid play here.
Draymond Green Small Forward $7,000
Green is taking advantage of being in the starting lineup and playing off Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. So much attention and effort is given to slowing down the ‘Splash Brothers’ that teams are doubling off Green and he is making folks pay for that decision. Aside from one dismal shooting performance this week, Green has been consistent in his FPPG production. Even taking into account that off-night against San Antonio; Green is averaging a robust 17.2 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 3.8 apg and 2.0 blocks per game over his last five outings. Here is a compelling stat for you; over this stretch of games Green is outperforming Thompson on a FPPG basis yet his salary is still considerably less. Look for Green to have another solid outing tonight as the Charlotte Hornets come to town.
Marcin Gortat Center $7,000
Gortat has been a consistent scoring and rebounding machine this season, unfortunately he hasn’t put together a solid scoring and rebounding game at the same time. I’m seeing all that change tonight; first off the Orlando Magic are coming to town and Nene injured his shoulder and will likely see a reduced role here. Gortat is too strong for anyone to matchup with him from Orlando and he will own the painted area tonight, grabbing boards and getting easy scores.
BAD PLAYS:
Goran Dragic Point Guard $7,000
Dragic’s season has been plagued by inconsistency. For the price tag of $7,000 I need more than 23.8 FPPG. Having said that Goran can really have good games and far exceed these averages; however, all too often his end of game numbers are too close to the 23.8 FPPG. For the price I’d look at Darren Collison or even Dragic’s teammate Isaiah Thomas instead.
Gordon Hayward Small Forward $7,300
Hayward has hit the skids a bit since his hot start to the season. His last two games have seen him average 10 ppg, 5 rpg, 1 apg and 1.5 steals per game; stats that are no where near good enough to justify this lofty salary. Add in that Hayward and the Jazz are heading North of the border to play the Raptors which is a team that Hayward has struggled against and this is not a good night to be buying high on Hayward. Last season against the Raptors Hayward averaged 16 ppg and 5 rpg which isn’t bad but one needs a lot more here for the price to compete in a league.
Zach Randolph Power Forward $7,700
Randolph has been fairly consistent this season; however, it seems as though he gets off to such slow starts in every game and relies on hugely productive fourth-quarters to just get him to his season averages. Randolph really hasn’t had that explosive game yet that sees him score 25 points and grab 15 rebounds with a couple assists and blocks for good measure. Randolph just looks a step slow out there and he is becoming less and less involved in the offence as evidenced in his fewest field goal attempts per game in the last three seasons. Price tag here is pretty high considering that there are a bunch of players who are averaging similar FPPG with higher potential and lower price tags on the menu tonight.
Andre Drummond Center $7,400
Drummond continues to struggle in Detroit as the co-existence of him, Greg Monroe and Josh Smith is not really working out to Drummond’s benefit. He is capable of so much more if only he could become the focal point in the post and have some actual space to operate around the basket; alas, this is simply not the case and his production is suffering as a result. In his last two games he has scored a total of 4 points. In November thus far his averages consist of 7.8 ppg, 11 rpg and 1.7 blocks per game; not exactly stuff of a top-tier and high end priced center.
Here is my FanDuel Fantasy roster for Saturday November 15th. After a dismal outing last night where numerous players played poorly I'm looking to bounce back here tonight. I usually enter a ten or twenty person league; however, given my struggles last night this team is going in a deeper league in hopes of just finishing in the money. Good Luck!
