About as injury-plagued as a human can be, Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose suffered a left orbital fracture to the face in the team's first practice of the season on Tuesday.
The former NBA MVP will undergo surgery on Wednesday:
As Johnson points out, a timetable for Rose's return will only be available after the surgery is conducted.
One of the top players in the Association, Rose has missed 212 games over the past four seasons due to a combination of different injuries. While a fracture like this could lead to him playing relatively early in the season with a mask, there's no guarantee that Rose will be back until it heels.
It's a major blow for the Bulls as they embark on a 2015-16 season with championship aspirations.
