It didn't take too long for the Oklahoma City Thunder to commit to guard Victor Oladipo. Mere months after acquiring him from the Orlando Magic, the Thunder have signed the youngster to a four-year, $84 million contract. Oladipo is averaging 17.0 points and 3.7 rebounds in three games with OKC this season.
Acquired for Serge Ibaka during the draft, Oklahoma City anticipates that Oladipo will be a major cog with Russell Westbrook in the team's backcourt following the departure of Kevin Durant in free agency.
Oladipo, 24, is a high-upside guard that should thrive next to Westbrook for years to come. He's coming off a 2015-16 campaign that saw him average 16.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists for the Magic.
Despite some shooting struggles (34 percent) early in his first season with OKC, the expectation here has to be that Oladipo will soon find his way to a 20-plus point per game average as teams continue to centrally focus on stopping Westbrook out on the perimeter. Should this happen, Oladipo will continue to be a rosterable option in year-long leagues.
From a dynasty perspective, those of you who have fostered him should be excited about what the future holds. Once Oladipo starts hitting the open shot like he did in Orlando last season, he'll definitely be a boon for your depth moving forward.
