With Joel Embiid likely out until after next weekend's All-Star Game, the Philadelphia 76ers are already short handed. That's now taken on a whole new meaning with the team sitting Jahlil Okafor in Saturday's win over the Miami Heat.
Okafor was a late scratch for non-injury reasons. It was then reported late Saturday evening that the former Duke standout told teammates that he expects to be traded here soon.
Okafor has long been on the trade block and now appears ready to move on from Philadelphia less than two years after the team selected him in the top five of the 2015 NBA Draft.
In fact, the Sixers apparently told Okafor that they are currently engaged in trade talks with several teams, the Boston Celtics and New Orleans Pelicans included.
A potential trade of Okafor opens up Nerlens Noel for a larger role in Philly's rotation. Noel put up 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting and tallied four steals in Philadelphia's 117-109 win over Miami on Saturday. Look for him to become more fantasy relevant with Okafor likely heading out of town.
