When it was announced last month that Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid suffered a minor meniscus tear in his knee, the expectation was that he would be out for a short period of time.
Though, after missing each of his first two seasons to injury, concern was real in Philadelphia. Would the injury bug come back to bite the former top-three pick? Well, we now have an answer.
Out since late January with said injury, Embiid will now miss the remainder of the season. This is a major blow for the Sixers, and begs one major question. Will Embiid every make a consistent impact on the court?
The big man was averaging 20.2 points and 7.8 rebounds prior to the injury.
With Embiid out and Nerlens Noel now in Dallas, look for Jahlil Okafor to continue playing a big role for Philadelphia. That's only magnified with rookie No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons also out for the season.
