Los Angeles Clippers power forward Blake Griffin has been out since Christmas Day. First it was a quad injury that kept him out several weeks. Then, an incident with a member of the team's equipment staff in late January resulted in the All-Star suffering a broken hand.
While Griffin is a month removed from suffering that second injury, Clippers head coach Doc Rivers indicated on Sunday that there is no timetable for the big man's return:
The good news here is that Griffin has resumed shooting. The bad news is that the Clippers have no timetable for a return, suggesting that it could still be a while before he's able to see the court in live-game action.
Los Angeles boasts a 21-7 record with Griffin out. And by virtue of the acquisition of Jeff Green during the trade deadline, the team can keep its head above water.
Unfortunately, the Clippers wouldn't stand much of a chance against San Antonio or Golden State in the playoffs without Griffin.
From a fantasy aspect, the addition of Green means more than Griffin's absense, especially from a DFS perspective. In this, Green has picked up his production. He's coming off a 22-point performance against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night and is averaging 15.3 points over the past three games. The larger indicator here is that Green has seen his minutes increase in each of the past three games, topping out at 30 minutes on Friday.
