New Orleans Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry announced on Sunday that All-Star power forward Anthony Davis will miss the remainder of the season due to lingering issues with his knee and shoulder.
If the Pelicans were in contention for a playoff spot, this might not have been the case. But with a 25-43 record heading into Sunday's action, it makes perfect sense for the Pelicans to give Davis a rest as to not risk further injury.
Davis entered the season as a legitimate MVP contender. He responded by putting up 24.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game for an injury-plagued Pelicans team that has disappointed skeptics throughout the year.
As the fifth-best fantasy forward and second-best power forward behind Draymond Green, this will obviously have a huge impact for those who roster Davis in re-draft and keeper leagues. It will also thin out the power forward position from a DFS perspective moving forward.
