Playing just his second game without Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook put up a historical performance against the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.
Westbrook scored 51 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out 10 assists.
It's the first 50-point triple double in the NBA since the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar back in 1975. It's also the third-most points scored by a player that's recorded a triple-double in the history of the Association.
Interestingly enough, it took this type of epic performance from Westbrook for the Thunder to beat Phoenix in overtime at home. All said, Westbrook had to take 44 shots to score the 51 points.
Those details aside, this was still a stirring overall performance from the MVP candidate, one we can expect him to come close to matching consistently throughout the season.
