Blake Griffin scored 18 points and Chris Paul recorded 15 assists as the visiting Clippers trounced the Lakers to win for the 10th time in 11 games.
DeAndre Jordan had 16 points, 11 rebounds and four steals and Matt Barnes scored 14 points as the Clippers moved within a half-game of third-place Memphis in the Western Conference. J.J. Redick and Hedo Turkoglu added 12 points apiece.
Wesley Johnson scored 16 points for the Lakers, who set a dubious franchise record with their 56th loss. Tarik Black and Jabari Brown added 10 points apiece as the Lakers lost for the fifth time in six games.
The Clippers began pulling away with an 11-0 run in the second quarter, with Jordan’s basket making it 39-22 with 4:37 remaining in the half. The Lakers pulled within 49-36 at the break despite shooting 35 percent from the field in the half.
Redick scored the first five points of the third quarter as the Clippers increased the lead to 18 and a 3-pointer by Austin Rivers capped a 10-0 run and pushed the lead to 72-49 with 3:21 left in the quarter. The score was 83-54 entering the final stanza and Turkoglu hit back-to-back 3-pointers to start the period and boost the margin to 35, and the Clippers led by as many as 43 while sailing to the finish.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Clippers were 15-of-27 from 3-point range with Barnes and Turkoglu each making four. … The previous Lakers’ record for defeats was set last season when the club went 27-55. … The two teams meet again Tuesday when the Clippers will be the home team.
