After months of speculation, the New York Jets found a home for defensive linemen Sheldon Richardson. On Friday, New York traded Richardson to the Seattle Seahawks for wide receiver Jermaine Kearse and draft pick considerations. ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported news of the deal.

Seattle takes a sizable swing with less than a week before the NFL season kicks off and it comes at a cost. But while Seattle recognizes the value of draft picks, the chance to provide a change of scenery for the disgruntled Richardson with the hope he can return to form and be a strong force on the defensive line. Richardson, a free agent at the end of this season, is due $8.07 million for the 2017 season.

The talent in Seattle's front seven jumps off the page. With Bobby Wagner, Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, Frank Clark, K.J. Wright and Richardson, a feared defense becomes even scarier in the NFL.

As for New York, this move just further adds onto their tear down. The loss of Richardson means one less talented player to try and help the team win games, but 2017 always seemed destined to be a tank year for the Jets. Now they add more draft assets to hopefully turn things around in a few years.
