LaRon Landry Suspended Four Games
On Monday the NFL announced that Indianapolis Colts safety LaRon Landry will be suspended for the next four games due to a violation of the league’s performance enhancing drug policy. Those four games will be against the Baltimore Ravens, at the Houston Texans, Cincinnati Bengals, and at the Pittsburgh Steelers. None of those games will be easy for the Colts and this suspension will certainly hurt them moving forward.
Bucs Get First Win of the Season with Mike Glennon
This Sunday the Tampa Bay Buccaneers got their first win of the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Quarterback Mike Glennon got his first start of the season replacing injured Josh McCown. Glennon led the Bucs down the field on the final drive and threw the game-winning touchdown with just seven seconds remaining in the game. Glennon showed a lot of guts on that drive and throughout the game.
However, head coach Lovie Smith still wasn’t ready to declare Glennon the starter even when McCown comes back. When asked which quarterback would start, Smith told the media it would be whichever quarterback gives the team the best chance of winning.
E.J. Manuel Benched In Favor of Kyle Orton
Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone has decided to make a change at quarterback going into Week 5. He’s decided to sit second-year quarterback EJ Manuel in favor of veteran Kyle Orton. Marrone wouldn’t commit to Orton for the rest of the season, but once you bench a young quarterback for any other reason than health, it’s tough to bring him back without any confidence issues.
Morris Claiborne Out For Season
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne is officially out for the season. After getting demoted from his starting role last week, he tore his patellar tendon in this week’s game. The Cowboys defense has been hit with the injury bug pretty bad this season and while Claiborne hasn’t been playing particularly well this season, this injury still hurts the team a lot.
Lane Johnson Is Back From Suspension
The Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive line has been ravaged with injury so far this season. They were also missing starting right tackle Lane Johnson to a suspension for the first four games. On Monday they were able to get Johnson back. With their running game struggling the way it has been and quarterback Nick Foles taking the hits he’s been taking, the addition of Johnson is going to make a big difference right away (assuming he’s kept himself in shape and is mentally ready).
Da’Rick Rogers Gets Cut After DUI Arrest
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Da”rick Rogers was cut moments after reports came out that he was arrested for a DUI. When Rogers was in college at Tennessee he showed great skill and potential but ended up leaving the school because of failed drug tests and was already on thin ice with the NFL. There’s a good chance this arrest could be the one that keeps him out of the league. For someone with such a history of problems, not many teams are going to want him on their team.
Carson Palmer Optimistic About His Return This Week
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer has missed the last two games with a shoulder injury. The Cardinals are coming off of their bye week in Week 4 but Palmer said he is “definitely” playing this week against the Denver Broncos. His head coach Bruce Arians wasn’t so sold on the idea. Arians said that before any decisions are made they would have to see where Palmer’s shoulder is on Wednesday.
Zach Miller To Miss Time After Ankle Procedure
The Seattle Seahawks are coming off their bye week but have lost tight end Zach Miller during that bye week. Miller had an ankle procedure done and will miss an “extended amount of time.” Miller has been very good for the Seahawks so far this season and has some big shoes to fill for his backups Luke Wilson and Cooper Helfelt.
Teddy Bridgewater MRI Comes Back Negative
Minnesota Vikings rookie quarterback Teddy Birdgewater left the game Sunday with a foot injury. Bridgewater was playing well up to that point and basically got the Vikings their first win of the season. When he went down, Vikings fans everywhere got scared. However, MRI results on Monday came back negative. That’s very good news for the Vikings seeing as how they have division rival Green Bay Packers on Thursday night.
Mike Evans To Miss 2-3 Weeks
Just when The Buccaneers are scoring some points on offense, they get the news they’ll be without rookie wide receiver Mike Evans for the next 2-3 weeks due to a groin injury. The worst part about this injury is that groin injuries are very tricky and linger for a long time. If they have no Evans for 2-3 weeks and then an Evans who isn’t 100% for awhile after that, it’s going to be even more of an uphill battle for quarterback Mike Glennon turning this team around.
