The 2014 NFL Draft is less than three weeks away. That should be great news to all NFL fans because their favorite teams will have the chance to draft some stud college prospects. This is one of the best draft classes in recent memory, and there are many players who have the potential to be perennial Pro Bowlers. In this draft, I will predict some trades that could happen. Without further ado, let's check out eDraft's latest mock draft.
1. (TRADE) Atlanta Falcons: Jadeveon Clowney, Defensive End, South Carolina
This is becoming a popular mock draft because the Falcons are known for trading up. A couple of years ago, the Falcons gave up a lot to draft Julio Jones. That turned out to be a great move for them because Jones has turned into one of the best receivers in the NFL. The Falcons are a few pieces away from contending for a Super Bowl. Drafting a guy like Jadeveon Clowney would give them the elite pass rusher they need.
2. (TRADE) Minnesota Vikings: Teddy Bridgewater, Quarterback, Louisville
The Minnesota Vikings will be drafting a quarterback early in this year's draft. Despite his bad pro day, Teddy Bridgewater is the consensus best quarterback in the draft. Blake Bortles may have the higher ceiling, but Bridgewater has good accuracy and he played in a pro-style offense in college. It will cost them, but moving up would be a good move for the Vikings.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Blake Bortles, Quarterback, UCF
4. Cleveland Browns: Johnny Manziel, Quarterback, Texas A&M
5. Oakland Raiders: Khalil Mack, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker
6. (TRADE) Detroit Lions: Sammy Watkins, Wide Receiver, Clemson
Imagine this for a second, a wide receiver combination of Calvin Johnson and Sammy Watkins. That duo would be by far the most lethal duo in all of the NFL. Both complement each other extremely well, and both can put the ball in the endzone at will. This trade shouldn't be a question for Detroit because they will be pairing the best receiver in this draft class with the best receiver in the NFL.
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Mike Evans, Wide Receiver, Texas A&M
8. (TRADE) St. Louis Rams: Jake Matthews, Left Tackle, Texas A&M
The St. Louis Rams are notorius for trading down. Trading with Minnesota would be beneficial because the Rams could get their first-round target at this selection. Jake Matthews and Greg Robinson are neck and neck for being the best tackles in this draft, but there are concerns in Robinson's game against the pass. Even though the Rams re-signed Rodger Saffold, drafting Matthews would be a wise investment.
9. Buffalo Bills: Greg Robinson, Left Tackle, Auburn
10. (TRADE) Houston Texans: Derek Carr, Quarterback, Fresno State
Deja vu, right? It wasn't too long ago when the Houston Texans drafted Derek's brother David. The older turned out to be a huge draft bust, but that doesn't mean Derek won't be either. There have been rumors that Houston likes Derek, and they would sign his older brother to mentor him. By trading down two times, the Texans would get a barrage of extra draft picks.
11. Tennessee Titans: Kony Ealy, Defensive End, Missouri
12. New York Giants: Aaron Donald, Defensive Tackle, Pittsburgh
13. St. Louis Rams: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Free Safety, Alabama
14. Chicago Bears: Justin Gilbert. Cornerback, Oklahoma State
15. Pittsburgh Steelers: Louis Nix III, Defensive Tackle, Notre Dame
16. (TRADE) Miami Dolphins: Zack Martin, Left Tackle, Notre Dame
Taylor Lewan could also be a pick here, but Zack Martin has less character concerns than Lewan. The Miami Dolphins have had a tough year with the Incognito-Martin story. The last thing they need is to have another headache in Lewan. Martin is an interesting player because he can play guard or tackle.
17. Baltimore Ravens: Taylor Lewan, Left Tackle, Michigan
18. New York Jets: Odell Beckham Jr., Wide Receiver, LSU
19. (TRADE) Dallas Cowboys: Anthony Barr, Defensive End, UCLA
Well it's real simple, the Dallas Cowboys' defense in 2013 was god awful. Trading back and picking up an extra draft pick would be a smart idea because they can use that extra draft pick to upgrade a spot on defense. Anthony Barr is a top-ten talent, but he fell in this mock because his NFL position is tough to predict. Rod Marinelli could use Barr in this defense as he would be a nice pass rusher in the 4-3 defense.
20. Arizona Cardinals: Eric Ebron, Tight End, UNC
21. Green Bay Packers: C.J. Mosley, Middle Linebacker, Alabama
22. Philadelphia Eagles: Calvin Pryor, Free Safety, Louisville
23. Kansas City Chiefs: Jimmie Ward, Free Safety, Northern Illinois
24. Cincinnati Bengals: Darqueze Dennard, Cornerback, Michigan State
25. San Diego Chargers: Jason Verrett, Cornerback, TCU
26. Cleveland Browns: Brandin Cooks, Wide Receiver, Oregon State
27. New Orleans Saints: Dee Ford, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Auburn
28. Carolina Panthers: Morgan Moses, Left Tackle, Virginia
29. New England Patriots: Jace Amaro, Tight End, Texas Tech
30. San Francisco 49ers: Ra'Shede Hageman, Defensive Tackle/End, Minnesota
31. Denver Broncos: Bradley Roby, Cornerback, Ohio State
32. Seattle Seahawks: Allen Robinson, Wide Receiver, Penn State
ROUND TWO
33. Houston Texans: Davante Adams, Wide Receiver, Fresno State
34. Washington Redskins: Kyle Van Noy, Outside Linebacker, BYU
35. Cleveland Browns: Scott Crichton, Defensive End, Oregon State
36. Oakland Raiders: Marqise Lee, Wide Receiver, USC
37. (TRADE) Houston Texans: Cyrus Kouandjio, Left Tackle, Alabama
By trading up and drafting Clowney, the Falcons would give up their second-round pick in the process. This is good news for Houston because they get the chance to fill another need. Cyrus Kouandjio is a good tackle, but arthritis in his knee is almost killed his draft stock. If Kouandjio can stay healthy, he would be a nice blindside tackle for Derek Carr.
38. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Demarcus Lawrence, Defensive End, Boise State
39. Jacksonville Jaguars: Donte Moncrief, Wide Receiver, Ole Miss
40. (TRADE) St. Louis Rams: Jordan Matthews, Wide Receiver, Vanderbilt
By trading down with Minnesota, the Rams pick up an extra second-round pick. Jordan Matthews has the frame and potential to be one of the best receivers in the NFL. Matthews is a good route-runner and he has great hands. A weak wide receiver class has kept hurt Matthews' draft stock, but Sam Bradford would be happy to add another weapon like Matthews.
41. Buffalo Bills: Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Tight End, Washington
42. Tennessee Titans: Bishop Sankey, Running Back, Washington
43. New York Giants: Deone Bucannon, Free Safety, Washington State
44. St. Louis Rams: Troy Niklas, Tight End, Notre Dame
45. (TRADE) Houston Texans: Stephon Tuitt, Defensive End/Tackle, Notre Dame
The Lions traded up to draft Sammy Watkins, and that cost them a second-round pick. Stephon Tuitt had a bad season in 2013, but he was one of the best defensive linemen in 2012. Tuitt is a tweener, but he is capable of playing defensive tackle or defensive end. Tuitt could fill the void that Earl Mitchell left by leaving in free agency.
46. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jeremiah Attaochu, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Georgia Tech
47. Dallas Cowboys: Dominique Easley, Defensive Tackle, Florida
48. Baltimore Ravens: Will Clarke, Defensive End, West Virginia
49. New York Jets: Kyle Fuller, Cornerback, Virginia Tech
50. Miami Dolphins: Shayne Skov, Middle Linebacker, Stanford
51. Chicago Bears: Chris Borland, Middle Linebacker, Wisconsin
52. Arizona Cardinals: Jackson Jeffcoat, Defensive End, Texas
53. Green Bay Packers: Weston Richburg, Center, Colorado State
54. Philadelphia Eagles: James Gayle, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Virginia Tech
55. Cincinnati Bengals: Kelvin Benjamin, Wide Receiver, Florida State
56. San Francisco 49ers: Lamarcus Joyner, Cornerback/Safety, Florida State
57. San Diego Chargers: DaQuan Jones, Defensive Tackle, Penn State
58. New Orleans Saints: Marcus Roberson, Cornerback, Florida
59. Indianapolis Colts: Jaylen Watkins, Cornerback, Florida
60. Carolina Panthers: Cody Latimer, Wide Receiver, Indiana
61. San Francisco 49ers: Paul Richardson, Wide Receiver, Colorado
62. New England Patriots: Chris Smith, Defensive End, Louisville
63. Denver Broncos: Yawin Smallwood, Middle Linebacker, Connecticut
64. Seattle Seahawks: Billy Turner, Offensive Tackle/Guard, North Dakota State
