2016 NFL Mock Draft, Picks 1-16

1. Tennessee Titans: Laremy Tunsil, Offensive Tackle, Mississippi

Tennessee really should look into trading this pick, especially if a quarterback-needy team comes calls. Should the Titans decide to stand pat, Tunsil is the obvious top player at a position of need. Picking him up would enable the team to move Taylor Lewan to right tackle, creating a solid pair of young book ends for young quarterback Marcus Mariota

2. Cleveland Browns: Jared Goff, Quarterback, California

With Hue Jackson now manning the sideline, it makes perfect sense that the former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator would want to get his own man under center. What Jackson did with Andy Dalton this past season was nothing short of a miracle. Can history repeat itself here? A prototypical drop-back passer, Goff can make every throw on the football field. He's my top quarterback in the class, and a top-five overall player. It's been this way since his freshman year at CAL.

3. San Diego Chargers: Ronnie Stanley, Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame

San Diego's offensive line was ravaged by injury during the 2015 season. In fact, its starting five missed a total of 30 games. With D.J. Fluker and Orlando Franklin in the mix, acquiring a franchise left tackle would go a long way in protecting Philip Rivers. Stanely was the top tackle prospect heading into the 2015 season and really didn't do anything to dispel that notion. If Tunsil is 1A, this Notre Dame standout has to be 1B. This is how good he's going to be at the next level.

4. Dallas Cowboys: Joey Bosa, Defensive End, Ohio State

With Greg Hardy likely to move on, this becomes a position of utmost need for Dallas. Add in the fact that Jack Crawford is also set to become a free agent, and that's over a quarter of the team's sacks from a season ago. Bosa is the consensus top pass rusher in the draft, someone that will be able to come in and make an immediate impact after starting 38 games in three seasons with Ohio State.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jalen Ramsey, Cornerback, Florida State

Jacksonville finished 29th in the NFL against the pass last season. Simply put, the likes of Davon House and Aaron Colvin weren't getting it done. Making his name as Seattle's defensive coordinator before coming to Jacksonville, some think Gus Bradley might want to target a bigger corner. In this, the 6-foot-1 Jalen Ramsey makes more sense than a smaller Vernon Hargreaves III. Though, you can pretty much put either one here and make sense of it.

6. Baltimore Ravens: Vernon Hargreaves III, Cornerback, Florida

Baltimore is going to have to get more talented in the defensive secondary. A major weakness this past season, the Ravens yielded a 99.6 rating to opposing quarterbacks. With Lardarius Webb taking a step back and Jimmy Smith failing to be that top shut-down guy, this has to be a target for Baltimore in the draft. Whether it's Hargreaves or Ramsey, Baltimore would be foolish to pass up on one of the top two corners at six.

7. San Francisco 49ers: Laquon Treadwell, Wide Receiver, Mississippi

At 6-foot-3 and 216 pounds, Treadwell is exactly the big-bodied receiver that Chip Kelly values in his offense. Also the consensus top pass catcher in the draft, Treadwell would be able to come in and make an impact immediately, something San Francisco will need with Anquan Boldin set to hit free agency, and not much behind him on the depth chart. This makes too much sense.

8. Miami Dolphins: Ezekiel Elliott, Running Back, Ohio State

Even in today's pass-happy NFL, someone of Elliott's ilk has to be valued in the top 10. It just remains to be seen who will take him. Coming off two consecutive 2,000-plus yard seasons and boasting a solid 225-pound frame, Elliott can be an every-down back in the NFL. More than that, he possesses All-Pro upside.

For the Dolphins, adding a running back of Elliott's ilk would be absolutely huge. Lamar Miller is set to become a free agent, and there's not much more on the depth chart after him.

9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Shaq Lawson, Defensive End, Clemson

Tampa Bay racked up a total of 38 sacks last season, but not a single member of the team put up double-digit sacks. Adding someone of Lawson's ability to go with Gerald McCoy along the team's defensive line would make this unit better all around. An All-American in 2015, Lawson racked up 12.5 sacks and 24.5 tackles for loss. With a 6-foot-3, 270-pound frame, he's also set to make an impact out of the gate.

10. New York Giants: Reggie Ragland, Linebacker, Alabama

Inside linebacker has to be considered one fo the biggest needs for the Giants. With Jon Beason retiring, and not much else at the linebacker position, expect New York to address this level of the defense out of the gate. And while Jaylon Smith seems to boast more upside, his knee injury from this past season has to be of concern, especially for a team selecting in the top 10.

11. Chicago Bears: Myles Jack, Linebacker, UCLA

As athletically gifted as any linebacker to enter the draft in some time, Jack will be drafted high simply due to the potential that he possesses. Injury issues from this past season aside, Jack's sideline-to-sideline play-making ability will be hard for a linebacker-needy Bears team to pass up on. Fitting him into Vic Fangio's defensive scheme would be a dream come true.

12. New Orleans Saints: Paxton Lynch, Quarterback, Memphis

While the Saints have been talking extension with Drew Brees, the team seriously needs to think about getting its quarterback of the future. Lynch might have the highest bust factor of any of the potential first-round signal callers, but he also boasts a ton of upside. Mechanically raw with tremendous arm strength and athleticism, Lynch could learn behind Brees before eventually taking over under center. It's a match made in heaven.

13. Philadelphia Eagles: Eli Apple, Cornerback, Ohio State

Byron Maxwell came on late in the season, but the Eagles are going to need to address this position sooner rather than later. That's only magnified with Nolan Carroll set to hit free agency. Missing out on the top-two corner in this specific mock, Philadelphia adds a defender in Apple has the size and physicality to go up against the more physical receivers in the NFL. And despite being a red-shirt sophomore, the expectation here has to be that he will jump up the draft boards based on his plus-level frame and previous success at Ohio State.

14. Oakland Raiders: Jaylon Smith, Linebacker, Notre Dame

It's rather obvious that Curtis Lofton and the rest of Oakland's inside linebackers were a major weakness last season. That's an area Reggie McKenzie will need to address. Here, the Raiders get a high-upside athletic inside linebacker who compares favorably to another former Bay Area great, Patrick Willis. The best sideline-to-sideline linebacker in the draft class, Smith also boasts plus-level coverage ability, something that was missing from this group in 2015. Team him up with Khalil Mack in the front seven, and watch out.

15. Los Angeles Rams: Carson Wentz, Quarterback, North Dakota State

Sure the Rams can continue to throw out marginal signal callers. Heck, Nick Foles and Case Keenum would be more than happy to compete for the starting job next season. Though, fans in Los Angeles might want a shiny new toy to call their own with the Rams returning home. Don't think that's not going to play a role here. Wentz, a Senior Bowl standout, possesses all the physical attributes you look for in a franchise quarterback. Though, the Rams would be smart to sit him for a year or two — something it couldn't afford to do with Sam Bradford.

16. Detroit Lions: Darron Lee, Linebacker, Ohio State

An undersized Lee (6-foot-2, 235) might drop in the draft simply due to his size. That's fine and dandy. What this linebacker does bring to the table is plus-level athleticism and solid fluidity in coverage. These are two traits teams look for in inside linebackers. With Stephon Tulloch not getting any younger and Travis Lewis set to his free agency, this is going to be an area Detroit needs to address.
