1. Ryan Tannehill, Miami Dolphins
Statistics: 3,786 passing yards, 317 rushing yards, 27 touchdowns and 12 interceptions (266.74 points)
Tannehill finished last season as the 16th-best fantasy quarterback. He put up just 24 touchdowns compared to 17 interceptions and averaged less than 15 fantasy points per outing. This season, Tannehill's average fantasy output is about 17 points per game. That might not seem like a major difference, but it's enough to make him a bottom tier QB1 option compared to a bye week or injury replacement.
In terms of dynasty leagues, Tannehill is definitely someone to keep an eye on. He's improved in each of his first three seasons in the NFL and will likely find a healthier running back group behind him next season. If you're in a start-up dyno league, he's a valuable mid-tier option.
2. Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders
Statistics: 3,112 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and 11 interceptions (185.08 points)
The only rookie signal caller to start each game this season, Carr's fantasy success was limited to being nothing more than a bye week or injury replacement. With that said, he's put up 20-plus touchdowns and has not turned the ball over a great deal for a signal caller. Carr has also been an above-average fantasy performer in nine of his 15 starts this season. That speaks to a dynasty value that should be through the roof in the offseason. However, it's going to depend a great deal on how much the Raiders improve their offense. Simply put, Carr needs a lot of help.
3. Eli Manning, New York Giants
Statistics: 3,981 passing yards, 30 touchdowns and 13 interceptions (250.34 points)
Surprise. After two horrendous seasons in a row, Manning rebounded big time this year. He's the 11th-ranked fantasy quarterback heading into what promises to be an uneventful Week 17 in fake football. He's also tallied 30 touchdowns and an above-average performance in 67 percent of his starts this season. For comparison's sake, Manning was the 21-st ranked fantasy quarterback last season, putting up an above-average performance in just five starts. To make matter more interesting, Manning's consistencty ranking stands among the top half of NFL starters. It was in the bottom third last year.
4. Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens
Statistics: 3,654 passing yards, 27 touchdowns and 12 interceptions (241.86 points)
Flacco may have been absolutely horrendous this past week against the Houston Texans. And yes, that could have cost some of you a fantasy championship. But he did represent tremendous value based on an ADP that stood among the bottom fourth entering the season. The 20th quarterback taking selected on average, Flacco enters Week 17 as a bottom-tier QB1 option. His consistency percentage also ranks ahead of Ryan Tannehill and Russell Wilson>
5. Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers
Statistics: 4,635 passing yards, 30 touchdowns and eight interceptions (289.20 points)
Big Ben has been among the best players in the NFL all season. And his fantasy production show this a great deal. After finishing last season as the 12th-ranked fantasy quarterbackm Roethlisberger is just outside of the top five entering Week 17. He's also averaging nearly four more points per outing this season.
