1. C.J. Anderson, Denver Broncos
2014 Statistics: 849 rushing yards, 324 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns (177.30 fantasy points)
Anderson, a second-year running back out of California, didn't see double-digit rush attempts in a game this season until Week 10. Despite this, he was able to finish the campaign as the 11th-ranked fantasy running back. During his final six games, Anderson averaged over 120 total yards per game and scored nine touchdowns. He was also the second-ranked fantasy running back during the final four weeks of the season.
2. DeMarco Murray, Dallas Cowboys
2014 Statistics: 1,845 rushing yards, 416 receiving yards and 13 total touchdowns (294.10 fantasy points)
Murray started the season just inside the top 10 in terms of ADP (average draft position). Murray finished the season as the top-ranked fantasy running back. In fact, he finished with 60 more total points than the No. 5 fantasy running back, Arian Foster. That equates to about five fantasy points per game.
And in terms of consistency level, Murray was way ahead of the pack. He put up either 100-plus yards and/or one touchdown in 15 of his 16 outings. The second-best in that category was Marshawn Lynch with 12 games. Considering Murray finished with 90 more total fantasy points than last season, it's safe to say his 2014 fantasy campaign was a smashing success.
3. Justin Forsett, Baltimore Ravens
2014 Statistics: 1,266 rushing yards, 263 receiving yards and eight touchdowns (202.90 fantasy points)
Forsett wasn't even guaranteed of a spot on the Ravens 53-man roster heading into the preseason. Depending on how Bernard Pierce worked out and the entire Ray Rice legal situation, there was a chance he wouldn't even see the field. But it was clear that Forsett was going to be the Ravens primary ball carrier from Week 1. He tallied at least 60 yards in all but two of the Ravens games this year. He also put up over 100 rushing yards in nearly one-third of the team's games this year. This was good enough for a player that ranked outside of the top 30 in terms of ADP among running backs to finish the season as the eighth-ranked fantasy running back. Not too shabby.
4. Le'Veon Bell, Pittsburgh Steelers
2014 Statistics: 1,361 rushing yards, 854 receiving yards and 11 total touchdowns (287.50 fantasy points)
With over 2,000 total yards this season, Bell finished with nearly twice as many yards as he put up last season. He tallied 100-plus yards in 13 games and recorded at least one touchdown in seven of the team's final 10 games. And in terms of PPR, Bell ranked second behind Matt Forte with 83 receptions. He did absolutely everything that was asked of him and more from a fantasy standpoint.
5. Jeremy Hill, Cincinnati Bengals
2014 Statistics: 1,124 rushing yards, 215 receiving yards and nine touchdowns (183.90 fantasy points)
Hill didn't even get regular touches until the Bengals were nine weeks into the season. And even then, the rookie running back put up less than 20 rush attempts five times. The primary reason Hill was so darn good was the fact that he averaged over five yards per rush attempt. He also put up touchdowns in nearly half of Cincinnati's 16 regular season games. This was enough for Hill rank among the top-10 fantasy running backs on the season.
