Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson suffered a sprained ankle in the team's win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. He was able to return to the game after suffering said injury in the second quarter, but was ineffective.
Peterson did indicate after the game that he will not X-rays, but didn't yet know whether an MRI would be needed.
The future Hall of Fame running back finished the game with just 63 yards on 18 attempts, an indication that he wasn't near 100 percent.
Minnesota still has a lot to play for moving forward this season, so it's safe to assume that Peterson will be back on the field next week against the New York Giants.
Two games up for the final wild card spot, Minnesota can clinch a spot in the postseason with a win next week. In addition to this, it is just one game behind the Green Bay Packers for first place in the NFC North.
It's still something to monitor throughout the week. Though, the likelihood here is that Peterson will at least be limited during practice in the lead up to next week's game. If he isn't, that will tell us all we need to know about how much of an impact he can make against a poor Giants run defense.
