This might spell the end of a once promising career. The Baltimore Ravens announced on Tuesday that they have released veteran running back Trent Richardson after signing him to a non-guaranteed deal during the spring.
Richardson, a top-three pick of the Cleveland Browns back in 2012, has seen himself fall into the ranks of the biggest busts in the recent history of the NFL.
After putting up over 1,300 total yards and 12 scores for the Browns as a rookie in 2012, Richardson was traded to the Indianapolis Colts early in the 2013 campaign. He responded by tallying just 2.9 yards per attempt in 14 games with the team that season. After another unproductive season in Indy, Richardson was released by the Colts, who had yielded a first-round pick for him the year prior.
That's the last time Richardson suited up in a regular season NFL game. He was signed by the Raiders prior to training camp last year. But after struggling through the preseason slate, the former Alabama standout found himself released once again.
With Richardson out of the mix in Baltimore, it sure looks like Terrance West will be given an opportunity to make the final 53-man roster. Though, he's likely going to be behind Justin Forsett, Kenneth Dixon and Buck Allen on the depth chart.
