Best Fantasy Football Waiver-Wire Adds for Week 11

Sometimes I wonder if fantasy owners even look at the waiver wire. Today I found four quality guys just chillin’ on the wire, owned in LESS than eight percent of leagues. EIGHT PERCENT!! That’s just a ridiculously low number. But I guess other people’s lack of awareness can be your gold mine, so here you go - Week 11’s waiver wire gems. Plus an added (and obvious) bonus.

*Note: All ownership numbers are an average of ESPN, Yahoo! and NFL.com fantasy football statistics, and are current as of 11 AM EST on Tuesday Morning.

Drew Stanton - Quarterback, Arizona Cardinals (0.2 percent owned)

After Carson Palmer went down with a knee injury in the fourth quarter, Stanton stepped in and rallied the team to victory. In less than a quarter of play on Sunday, Stanton still finished as a QB2 (20th overall) with 7.7 points on 85 yards and a touchdown.  Yes, Stanton was inconsistent in his other three outings for the Cardinals this season, with less than 4 points against the New York Giants and Denver Broncos, but 19.4 points against the San Francisco 49ers - with a solid offensive line, stingy defense and talented skills players around him, Stanton should be able to put up high end QB2 numbers for the rest of the season, and possibly even low end QB1. He’s has a bit of a tough schedule ahead, with the Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks (twice) all on the docket still. But if you were going to start Palmer in these games, you can rely on Stanton too.

C.J. Anderson - Running Back, Denver Broncos (3.5%)

Sunday was Anderson’s time to shine, with Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman both out due to injury, and he delivered. He finished the week as the No. 2 overall running back, with 26.30 points on 163 total yards and one touchdown. Hillman will be out at least a couple more weeks, which means Anderson will be the starter and is definitely worth a look, as the Miami Dolphins and St. Louis Rams both are giving up over 13 points-per-game to opposing running backs, making him a solid top-tier RB2 option. Also, try getting a claim in on Juwan Thompson too, just incase John Fox decides to go with a committee approach.

Josh McCown - Quarterback, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3.9%)

McCown couldn’t get the win for his team, but he turned in a solid performance for fantasy owners, finishing as the 7th best quarterback with 15.94 points - thanks to 301 passing yards and two touchdowns. If you’re a Palmer or even Jay Cutler owner and are worried about Stanton’s upcoming schedule, McCown is just the guy for you. The Buccaneers next two games are against the Washington Redskins and Chicago Bears - both of whom are giving up the most ppg (20) to opposing quarterbacks.

John Brown - Wide Receiver, Arizona Cardinals (7.7%)

Brown put in another solid day on Sunday, racking up 18.30 points (20th) on five receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown. It was his third performance of 18-plus points this season, and second with Stanton under center. With Kansas City and Seattle allowing less than 18 points ppg to opposing wideouts, Brown could be a solid WR2/3 or FLEX option, with those defenses likely to key in on Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd and possibly even the tight ends.

BONUS: Josh Gordon - Wide Receiver, Cleveland Browns (61.1%)

This is the last week of Gordon’s suspension, and he’ll be reinstated and likely active for Week 12. If you have the roster flexibility, go out there and grab him NOW. Remember what happened last time he came back from suspension? Gordon is going to put up huge numbers for the Browns, and you’ll look like a genius swiping him up now.
