Best Fantasy Football Waiver-Wire Pickups for Week 3

Just like that, we’re turning the page and looking ahead to Week 3 of the 2013 NFL season.  By now, you know the drill.  If your roster needs some TLC, check out this guys on the waiver wire to get you on the right track once again.

1. James Starks - Running Back, Green Bay Packers

Starks had a huge day filling in for the injured Eddie Lacy, rushing for 132 yards and a touchdown - becoming the Packers’ first 100-yard rusher in 45 games and finishing the week as the second ranked fantasy ‘back.

Starks should be a solid start for Lacy owners until he returns. Frustrated David Wilson owners, as well as those with stock in Maurice Jones-Drew or any Denver Broncos running backs, could also see a short-term boost from Starks’ services.  Starks is owned in just 3.4 percent of leagues, so you shouldn’t have a problem getting him.

2. Eddie Royal - Wide Receiver, San Diego Chargers

With Malcom Floyd going down with a neck injury, Royal stepped up big and finished the day as the top fantasy receiver with seven receptions for 90 yards and three touchdowns.  The Chargers are seriously hurting for help at the receiver position so even if Floyd doesn’t miss significant time, Royal will still be the No. 1 or No. 2 on a pass-heavy offense.

If you need help at receiver, Royal is definitely worth a look. Plus he’s only owned in 14.5 percent of leagues, so you have a great chance of getting him.

3. Charles Clay - Tight End, Miami Dolphins

Clay has emerged as a great, pass-catching option over the middle and downfield for the Dolphins.  He finished the week ranked 3rd among tight ends with 17 points.  With Dustin Keller out for the season, Clay gives Ryan Tannehill a dependable No. 3 option.

Clay is owned in less than one percent of leagues, so if you need tight end help, don’t wait and get that claim in now!

4. Marlon Brown - Wide Receiver, Baltimore Ravens

Jacoby Jones is out with an injury and Baltimore’s tight end situation is a mess.  Brown is currently the team’s No. 2 receiver, meaning he’s going to see enough targets weekly to put up mid to low-end WR2 numbers, just as he did this week with 10.5 fantasy points, good for 22nd best among receivers this week.  Brown is owned in just 4.8 percent of leagues, so he should be an easy find.

5. Clay Harbor - Tight End, Jacksonville Jaguars

Marcedes Lewis is battling a nagging calf injury, which leaves Harbor as the man for the job in Jacksonville.  Harbor’s three receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 were good enough for 10th best among tight ends with 9.4 fantasy points.

While you probably don’t want to start any Jaguars players against the Seattle Seahawks defense in Week 3, Harbor could be a good stash for Lewis owners.  Harbor is owned in literally zero percent of leagues, so there really should be no reason why you can’t get him.
