It may seem absolutely absurd on the surface. Relying in a quarterback that couldn't beat out Blaine Gabbert for the starting job with the San Francisco 49ers? Why would we even come close to suggesting this?
There are, however, more to the situation regarding Colin Kaepernick then simply that. First off, the embattled quarterback was held back during off-season activities after going through multiple surgeries last winter. Secondly, he was limited in the preseason due to arm fatigue.
Not until first-year 49ers head coach Chip Kelly knew Kaepernick was healthy and had a solid understanding of the team's playbook, did he decide to make the move at quarterback.
And despite the 49ers' horrible all-around performance this season, Kaepernick has not disappointed, especially in comparison to Gabbert.
This has translated extremely well to the fantasy football world. In his six starts this season, Kaepernick is averaging over 300 total yards and nearly two touchdowns per game. He's also thrown just three interceptions in 208 pass attempts.
Over the course of the past four games, Kaepernick has tallied 1,243 total yards with nine touchdowns and just two interceptions. This has him as the fifth-best fantasy quarterback during that span. In fact, Kaepernick heads into Monday Night Football as the top fantasy quarterback for Week 12.
Though, it's the consistency we've seen from Kaepernick that can't be discounted here. It's also the reason why maybe we should start looking at him as a potential fantasy season saving option moving forward.

| 9 | Saints | 4th |

| 12 | Dolphins | 1st |
Yes, Kaepernick has acted the part of a true QB1 option in each of his past four starts. Before that, he was a top-end QB2 option in his first two starts. That's not too shabby at all. It also tells us a story of a quarterback that's definitely turned the corner from a fantasy perspective.
What makes Kaepernick's fantasy relevance moving forward on the season so intriguing is just who the 49ers are set to go up against over the next three weeks.

All said, these three teams have yielded a combined 61 touchdowns compared to 18 interceptions. Considering Kaepernick has performed well against much better defenses, this should be a sign that he will put up some huge numbers. After all, Kap has taken on the Arizona Cardinals and Buffalo Bills, two teams that currently rank in the top 10 of the NFL against fantasy quarterbacks.
