The NFL announced on Friday that Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory would be suspended four games for the upcoming season after violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy. Gregory was the 60th overall pick in last year's NFL Draft and appeared in 12 games.
Gregory faces a four-game suspension after failing multiple tests in the NFL's treatment program. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Gregory failed four tests; his first at the NFL Scouting Combine, second led to a two-game fine and his third was a four-game fine.
There were red flags about Gregory's use of marijuana last year and it led to him falling in the draft. Now with four failed tests at the NFL level and a suspension, it is evident those concerns were very accurate. Gregory will be able to return in Week 5 or 6, depending on when Dallas has its bye week. For now, Dallas just has to hope Gregory can get his things in order and avoid becoming the next Dion Jordan.
