Dorial Green-Beckham Gets First-Team Work with the Tennessee Titans

We probably shouldn't read a whole bunch into this, but rookie second-round pick Dorial Green-Beckham worked with the Tennessee Titans first-team offense at times on Monday.

Considered one of the most physically dominant receivers in the 2015 NFL draft, Green-Beckham had to wait until the second round to hear his name called. Most of that had to do with numerous off-field issues during his college career. There were also some concerns over Green-Beckham's ability make an impact as a pro player out of the gate. His route tree was unrefined coming out of college and he struggled with catch technique in the lead up to the draft.

Now prepared to make his preseason debut with the Titans this week, Green-Beckham has apparently impressed the team enough to gets some first-team reps.

“I think it is a reward,’’ Titans receivers coach Shawn Jefferson said Monday, via the team's official website. “DGB has shown the ability to pick up on the playbook very well. For a big guy he can run, and he sink his hips, and get out at the top of his routes. Putting him in with the first group kind of elevates that sense of urgency for him. He has done well. There have been so growing pains, but that kid is going to be all right.”

The caution here is that Green-Beckham did struggle with conditioning during off-season activites and early in camp. The team's official website also made sure to note that he's left a few balls on the turf.

Green-Beckham, who last played an organized football game with Missouri in 2013, will get his first live-game action as a NFL player against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night.

Considering the Titans have not been impressed by the maturation process of both Justin Hunter and Kendall Wright, there is a good chance Green-Beckham could get a nice amount of action as a rookie. It's now all about the 6-foot-5, 225-pound receiver making the most of his opportunities. The talent is most definitely there, and it seems Tennessee is coming away impressed by the young man.
