It is never a good or bad thing to look ahead to the draft when your team is doing bad. You get to see what players there are possibly available for position of weaknesses that your team has. It is still early in the draft process and free agency will certainly shake needs up, so the list will presumably change as time comes.

LEO

Yes, the Jaguars are second in the league. Yes, they have improved. But when you don’t get consistent pressure to force the quarterback to step up in the pocket or have no time to throw the ball which makes the defensive backs and linebackers jobs easier. Andre Branch has improved but is still not that ‘guy’ that you look for. Chris Clemons has lost a step and can’t get a well enough pass rush all game.

Potential Prospects : Randy Gregory (Nebraska), Vic Beasley (Clemson), Leanord Floyd (UGA)

Free Safety

After cutting Winston Guy, Josh Evans was named to new starting Free Safety. Evans has been holding his own but he is nothing special. The Jaguars need a rangy, fast, instinctive player to play this position. There is not a guy in this draft that has all of those traits, but there are a few players in this class that do have some of those traits.

Potential Prospects : Landon Collins (Alabama), Karl Joseph (WVU), Derron Smith (Fresno State)

Linebacker 

This team more often than not has trouble covering tight ends. With 2014 fifth round pick Telvin Smith finally stepping up and getting acclimated to the speed of the NFL, he will be a future outside linebacker for the Jaguars. But with Paul Posluszny getting older and not playing well overall, they will need to target a middle backer early on to ease into the starting role.
