Early Week 1 Fantasy Football Injury Report

Breshad Perriman, Wide Receiver, Baltimore Ravens (Probable)

The injury-plagued third-year player missed the entire preseason with a hamstring injury. But he's returned to practice and will be good to go for Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Though, Perriman remains the No 3 receiver on an offense that's going to struggle throwing the ball. He's currently irrelevant from a fake football perspective.

Danny Woodhead, Running Back, Baltimore Ravens (Probable)

Much like Perriman, Woodhead will play Week 1 after seeing the field very little during the preseason due to a hamstring injury. And with Kenneth Dixon lost for the season, we fully expect Woodhead to see a ton of action. With an average of 78 receptions in his past two full seasons, Woodhead is a solid under-the-radar play in PPR-heavy DFS contests. However, he's nowhere near a reliable redraft option due to injuries.

Jordan Matthews, Wide Reciever, Buffalo Bills (Questionable)

Matthews will play and start for the Bills in Week 1 against the New York Jets after suffering a chest injury in his first preseason game with the team. Despite questions surrounding Tyrod Taylor at quarterback, Matthews is a solid under-the-radar play against a bad Jets defense.

Markus Wheaton, Wide Receiver, Chicago Bears (Questionable)

Wheaton, in his first season with the Bears, missed a vast majority of training camp due to a finger injury. At this point, we're going to conclude he's doubtful for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. Now that Chicago lost Alshon Jeffery in free agency, released Victor Cruz and saw Cameron Meredith go down to a season-ending injury, Wheaton will be a potential low-end fantasy add. It just won't be in Week 1.

John Ross, Wide Receiver, Cincinnati Bengals (Doubtful)

After suffering a sprained knee during the preseason, Ross will likely miss the Bengals' first couple regular season games. The team all but confirmed that this week while Ross himself returned to practice on a limited basis. With him out against Baltimore, Brandon LaFell takes over as the No. 2 behind A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd finds himself as the team's third receiver.

Demaryius Thomas, Wide Receiver, Denver Broncos (Probable)

Thomas had been nursing a groin injury during the preseason, but he was able to return to practice mid-week. It looks like he'll be able to go Monday against the Los Angeles Chargers. Though, there has to be some concern over both the Broncos' quarterback situation and Thomas being actually near 100 percent hear. He remains a hard pass in DFS contests.

Andrew Luck, Quarterback, Indianapolis Colts (Out)

Not surprisingly, Luck has officially been ruled out for the Colts' Week 1 game against the Los Angeles Rams. He missed the entire off-season program and training camp after undergoing shoulder surgery following the 2016 campaign. Despite being taken off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list last week, this is looking like a multi-week injury. Scott Tolzien starts Sunday and is in no way a fantasy-relevant option against the Rams.

Dede Westbrook, Wide Receiver, Jacksonville Jaguars (Out)

After a tremendous preseason performance, this rookie from Oklahoma will sit out the Jaguars' Week 1 game against an elite Houston Texans defense. He's dealing with an abdomen injury and is listed as week-to-week. Allen Hurns, who had fallen out of favor in Jacksonville, will be the team's No. 3 receiver come Sunday.

T.J. Yeldon, Running Back, Jacksonville Jaguars (Questionable)

Expect Yeldon to be a game-time decision Sunday against Houston. He's dealing with a hamstring injury that impacted him throughout the preseason slate. Even if Yeldon were a go, he's irrelevant from a fantasy perspective with rookie Leonard Fournette being tasked primarily with three-down duties and veteran Chris Ivory being the Jags' short-yardage back.

Cooper Kupp, Wide Receiver, Los Angeles Rams (Questionable)

This rookie stud missed the final two preseason games with a groin injury. But it seems that the Rams were playing it close with the slot receiver. Now slated to take over that role on a consistent basis, Kupp provides a ton of PPR upside moving forward. That starts Sunday against Indy.

Odell Beckham, Wide Receiver, New York Giants (Questionable)

OBJ still has not returned to practice after suffering a sprained ankle in the Giants' second preseason game. His status for Sunday night's outing against the Dallas Cowboys remains up in the air. But we'd definitely error on the side of caution. If OBJ is truly a game-time decision, simply decide against starting him in redraft or buying into the star WR in DFS. If he doesn't play, both Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard will see upticks in relevance.
