The Chicago Bears will be without two of their top players Monday night as they attempt to avoid losing their seventh of nine games this year.
Dealing with a knee injury, all-everything running back Matt Forte will take a seat on the bench. While Bears head coach John Fox called Forte "truly day-to-day" throughout the week, this was to be expected. Forte is said to have a sprained MCL, something that will likely keep him out of action for multiple weeks.
Rookie fourth-round pick Jeremy Langford will get the start in Forte's stead. Going up against a San Diego Chargers defense that ranks 27th in the NFL in run defense and has yielded the second-most fantasy points to running backs, Langford becomes a solid fantasy play. He went for 46 yards on 12 attempts after Forte went down last week.
With Eddie Royal sidelined due to a knee injury, Marquess Wilson will continue to be the Bears No. 2 receiver behind Alshon Jeffery. Prior to struggling over the past two games (three catches, 68 yards), Wilson put up a total of 165 yards on 12 receptions in consecutive games. Interestingly, those outings came with Jeffery injured.
Now given an opportunity with another Bears receiver sidelined, the expectation here has to be that Wilson will put up some good numbers. It also helps that he will be lined up against a struggling corner in Brandon Flowers.
