The New Orleans Saints, who locked up a playoff berth in Week 17, will travel to the City of Brotherly Love to take on a Philadelphia Eagles team that is riding high following a division-clinching victory against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football this past weekend.
You can expect the weather to play somewhat of a role in this one, as New Orleans boasts a 3-5 record away from the SuperDome and is 2-5 in open-air stadiums this season. Overall, the Saints are 10-16 outdoors since the 2010 season.
Here is everything you need to know about this NFC Wild Card matchup.

This really is a strength of the Saints' squad going up against what has to be considered a below-average defense. Philadelphia yielded over 400 yards six different times this season, including 539 to the San Diego Chargers in Week 2 and 560 to the lowly Oakland Raiders in Week 9.
That type of performance simply won't get it done against one of the most consistently good offenses in the entire National Football League.
For their part, the Saints, led by Drew Brees, tallied over 400 yards seven different times during the regular season...including a ridiculous 625-yard performance against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 10.
Brees, who is coming off his third consecutive 5,000-yard season, has helped the Saints put up 30-plus points six times this year.
Eagles Offense vs Saints Defense | Team | PPG | Passing Yds | Rushing Yds | Total Yds | Sacks | Turnover Diff. |
| Eagles | 27.6 (4) | 256.9 (9) | 160.4 (1) | 417.2 (2) | 46 (25) | +12 (4) |
| Saints | 19.0 (4) | 194.1 (2) | 111.6 (19) | 305.7 (4) | 49 (4) | 0 (14) |
Rob Ryan's defense in New Orleans is vastly improved in his first season as its coordinator. After putting up some of the worst numbers for a defense in NFL history last year, the 3-4 seems to have added another element against the Pass.
New Orleans ranks second in the NFL in that category after placing 32nd last year. In addition, the Saints defense has yielded less than 150 passing yards six different times.
Usually focusing on forcing turnovers in the past, this unit hasn't been great in that category.
After forcing 15 in their first seven games, the Saints have only created four turnovers in their last nine outings.
Philadelphia, behind LeSean McCoy boasts the best overall rushing attack in the league, and the second-best overall offense. It will definitely be challenged by what has to be considered one of the most improves defenses in recent league history.
Key Matchups

Fletcher Cox and Vinny Curry vs Terron Armstead: Youngsters against youngers going at it here. Armstead, a rookie third-round pick, took over as the Saints starting left tackle in Week 16 and has struggled big time.
He allowed three sacks on Brees in his two starts, including two in the Saints Week 16 loss to the Carolina Panthers. For their part, second-year studs Cox and Curry combined for seven sacks on the season.
DeSean Jackson vs Corey White: It remains to be seen whether Ryan will decide to move Keenan Lewis to Jackson's side. If not, the Saints could be in for a long day here. White entered the starting lineup when Jabari Greer went down with an injury in Week 11 and has been picked on a great deal this year.
He's given up four touchdowns compared to one interception despite playing decent in coverage. The issue here, however, is that the Saints are going to be without rookie free safety Kenny Vaccaro. Where wil the help come from over the top?
Jimmy Graham vs DeMeco Ryans and Patrick Chung: This is going to be a downright disaster, unless Philadelphia decides to utilize slot corner Brandon Boykin against Graham. Neither Ryans nor Chung will be able to stop the most electric tight end in the NFL. It's that simple.
