FanDuel Fantasy Football Advice: Week 9

Colin Kaepernick is a Solid Fantasy Play at $7,800

Not only is Kaepernick going up against a St. Louis Rams defense that ranks 28th in the NFL against fantasy quarterbacks, he's been a stud against the Rams in recent outings. He has thrown six touchdowns compared to zero interceptions and has compiled 855 total yards over the past three games against St. Louis. As the 11th-most expensive fantasy quarterback this week, Kaepernick is an obvious value play here.

Philip Rivers isn't

Rivers has struggled to an extent over the past couple outings, averaging about 15 fantasy points during that span. He's also thrown three interceptions in those two outings after tallying a total of two in his first six starts. Magnifying things further, Rivers, as the fourth-most expensive fantasy quarterback, is going up against a Miami Dolphins defense that has yielded the third-fewest fantasy points to that position this season.

Beware of New England

With a forecast that is expected to include 24 mile per hour winds and possible rain/snow, there has to be some concern over going with either Peyton Manning or Tom Brady this week. Manning put up just 150 yards and a score in similar conditions in New England last season, so you should have some concern that he's going to live up to the FanDuel's second most-expensive quarterback value. For his part, Brady is the third most-expensive fantasy quarterback. At this point, wait until Sunday morning to check in on conditions if you want to start one of these quarterbacks. If not, look in another direction.

Check in on Ronnie Hillman

Hillman is averaging over 115 total yards over the past three games and is going up against a Patriots defense that is giving up an average of nearly 170 total yards against running backs this season. Overall, New England came into Week 9 yielding the second-most fantasy points to this position. With a price tag of $7,200, definitely look in Hillman's direction.

Don't Avoid DeMarco Murray

Some may conclude that Murray will have his worst outing of the season against an Arizona Cardinals run defense that ranks second in the NFL and first in fantasy points against. While that should be some cause for alarm, there is no reason to believe that Murray won't live up to his $9,600 price tage. He's proven over and over again that he can go out there against stout defenses and put up the necessary fantasy points to make him a stud this week. Remember, Murray put up 221 total yards against a Washington Redskins team that came into Week 8 ranked in the top-five against fantasy running backs.

Stream Steelers

Coming off a record-setting performance last week Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers will be going up againt a Baltimore Ravens defense that has given up the most fantasy points to receivers this season. They will be doing so with Jimmy Smith sitting the game out for Baltimore.

This means that the likes of Markus Wheaton or Martavis Bryant could potentially be solid FLEX starters to go along with Antonio Brown as a WR1. In fact, Brown and Wheaton don't sound too bad at about 29 percent of your cap.
