2016 Review

Brate enjoyed an incredibly surprising 2016 campaign that saw him post a tremendous 70 percent catch rate to go with a 14 percent touchdown rate, both numbers ranking in the top five among TE1 or TE2 options. This led to him actually concluding his first season as the Bucs' starter as the seventh-best fantasy tight end.

Brate's best fantasy performance came in a Week 3 loss to the Los Angeles Rams that saw him catch five passes for 46 yards to go with two touchdowns.

All said, the young tight end put up double-digit fantasy performances in nearly a quarter of his team's games this past season. This ranked him sixth-best among tight ends in fantasy consistency.

Dynasty Outlook

At just 25 years old and with statistical improvements in each of his first three seasons in the NFL, Brate surely is on the upswing from a fantasy perspective. He showed a tremendous relationship with Jameis Winston this past season and proved he can be among the most-productive catch-first tight ends in the NFL.

While Brate's entrance into the NFL didn't come with much fanfare as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Harvard, he did show pass-catching ability in college. That's translated well over the past two full seasons and should make him a draftable commodity in the dynasty world.

Free Agency Outlook

There's little doubt that Brates will see an extensive market for his services when free agency comes calling. As we mentioned above, he showed tremendous ability as a catch-first tight end for the Bucs this past season.

It did help to have an elite-level quarterback in Winston, but there's a ton of teams in need of an upgrade at tight end. That will surely play a role in how well received Brate is on the free-agent market.
