2016 Review

After starting the season as Justin Forsett's backup, West earned the starting job when the veteran was waived. Though, he was forced to share carries rookie Kennth Dixon, who compiled 118 total touches in 12 games. This severely limited the overall impact West made throughout the season.

Sure he finished as a bottom end RB2 option in 12-team leagues, but West ranked 44th at his position in fantasy consistency. All said, 42 percent of his fantasy points and 33 percent of his rushing yards came in three games.

Outside of those three performances, West was pretty much a non-factor. Again, most of this had to do with his lack of touches throughout the season.

Dynasty Outlook

This ship has pretty much sailed for West in Baltimore after one-plus season. It's readily apparent the Ravens are going to move forward with youngster Kenneth Dixon from here on out. And short of West taking on a backup role with Baltimore, he'll likely be calling another city home in 2017.

The issue here is that West has yet to prove himself capable of shouldering the load in the NFL. This past season saw him put up a personal best 193 rush attempts. Though, he averaged just 12 rush attempts per game. As a rookie with the Browns back in 2014, West toted the ball the ball 171 times at an average of under four yards per rush. That's not really going to get it done in today's NFL.

With all that said, West was still able to compile over 1,000 total yards with a 76 percent catch rate from the running back position. There's surely value in that. In reality, he's not a dynasty option unless he lands in a solid place to be featured, at which point the waiver wire could come calling.

Free Agency Outlook

While there are a ton of teams in the market for a true three-down back, West has yet to prove himself in that role in three NFL seasons.

Short of a team looking to bargain shop at running back, it seems hard to imagine that he'll somehow land a starting role. That's something to keep an eye on before you roster him for the 2017 season and beyond.
