Fantasy Football: NFL Waiver Wire Adds, Week 14

With the fantasy playoffs starting either this upcoming week or in Week 15, it's time to get down to brass tax in the fake football world.

If you are in position to be playing in the playoffs, there is no better time to look at potential waiver-wire adds to help put your team over the top.

Don't fret, eDraft is here to help.

Here are some of the top waiver adds heading into Week 14 of the NFL season.

Marcus Mariota, Quarterback, Tennessee Titans

It's shocking that Mariota is still owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo! contests. That makes absolutely no sense at all. The rookie quarterback put up 380 total yards and four touchdowns en route to the second-best fantasy performance among quarterbacks this week.

Having put up 18-plus points in four of his past five starts and 33-plus points in two of those starts, Mariota finds himself as the fourth-best fantasy quarterback over the past four weeks.

With somewhat difficult matchups against the New York Jets and New England Patriots in the next two weeks, Mariota's value on the waiver wire takes a hit. Though, his performance over the past month-plus makes him a solid add for those of you who are in a tricky position at quarterback.

Blaine Gabbert, Quarterback, San Francisco 49ers

If you followed our recommendation to consider Gabbert last week and found a way to insert him into the lineup on Sunday, you were rewarded with a top-10 fantasy performance. This former draft bust of the Jacksonville Jaguars put up 270-plus total yards for the third consecutive start while tallying two touchdowns against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

Over the course of the past two weeks, Gabbert actually finds himself with more fantasy points than the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Derek Carr and Jay Cutler. Sample size aside, that's pretty shocking.

With a game coming up against a suddenly bad Cleveland Browns defense, Gabbert may very well be worth a waiver-wire pickup. Of course, this depends on how bad your quarterback situation is. It has to be pretty bad to consider a quarterback on the waiver wire this late in the season.

Tyrod Taylor, Quarterback, Buffalo Bills

With his second consecutive three-plus touchdown performance on Sunday, it appears that Taylor has returned to pre-injury form. Remember, he was a legit QB1 option in the first four weeks of the season before suffering a sprained MCL and missing two games.

It only took 11 completions against the Houston Texans for Taylor to find himself as the seventh-best fantasy quarterback on the week. It also came against a Texans defense that had yielded just two touchdowns in its prior 14 quarters before Sunday's outing.

With a game coming up against a bad Philadelphia Eagles secondary before taking on a pedestrian Washington Redskins unit, it appears that Taylor will continue to be a viable QB1 option, at least for the next two weeks.

James White, Running Back, New England Patriots

White didn't make much of an impact on the ground against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. He attempted just two runs for for four yards. It was, however, in a role previously filled by the now IR'd Dion Lewis that White had the most impact.

He put up 10 receptions for 115 yards and a score on 13 targets.

We have no idea whether White's role as the Patriots' pass-catching running back wil be defined when the team gets back a couple of its injured skill-position players. We do know that taking a risk on him on the waiver wire could potentially pay off moving forward.

Shaun Draughn, Running Back, San Francisco 49ers

With 18-plus touches, four-plus receptions and 77-plus total yards in all four of his appearances with the 49ers, Draughn has proven himself to be a consistent fantasy option. Considering the team has no one else to turn to as the season progresses, the expectation here has to be that Draughn will continue to get opportunities.

Taking on his former Cleveland Browns team next week, you better believe that Draughn will be pumped to put up a huge performance. With Cleveland coming in as the ninth-worst defense against fantasy running backs, the expectation here has to be that Draughn will be able to put up a bottom-end RB1 performance. What a steal he'd be on the waiver wire heading into the fantasy playoffs.

Darren Sproles, Running Back, Philadelphia Eagles

With Ryan Mathews still out due to a concussion, Sproles put up 19 touches compared to eight for DeMarco Murray against the Patriots on Sunday.

Sproles also responded by putting up 100 yards on those 19 touches.

We have no idea whether Sproles will continue to play a large role when Mathews returns. What we do know is that Philadelphia performs better when he plays a large role on offense. The Eagles are 4-1 when Sproles puts up 10-plus touches over the past two seasons.

Marvin Jones, Wide Receiver, Cincinnati Bengals

With Tyler Eifert out of action Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, Jones saw an uptick in performance. He caught all five of the passes thrown in his direction for 55 yards and a score in the dominating 37-3 win.

It was Jones' eighth consecutive game with at least five targets, a span that has seen him put up 37 receptions and 430 yards.

Even if Eifert is able to return at some point soon, Jones has to be considered a solid pick up in standard 12-team leagues. He continues to gain the confidence in a Bengals passing attack that has righted the ship after struggling against the Houston Texans back in Week 10.

Dorial Green-Beckham, Wide Receiver, Tennessee Titans

Each time we have put this rookie in similar articles, he has responded by doing next to nothing the following week. This likely won't be the case following a performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars that saw him put up five receptions for 119 yards and a score on six targets.

With just four catches for 62 yards in the previous three games, it might be smart to proceed with caution here. Maybe pick Green-Beckham up on a whim and see what he does next week before deciding whether to start him the following week. The talent is most definitely there, it's now all about consistency.

DeVante Parker, Wide Receiver, Miami Dolphins

It's readily apparent that Parker is finally healthy after not making much of an impact in the first 11 weeks of the season. Following a four-catch, 80-yard performance that saw him record a touchdown last week, Parker put up his second consecutive solid outing on Sunday. He recorded three receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown on five targets.

Interestingly, Parker was targeted more than No. 1 Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry in this one. That might be more of an outlier than anything, but the Dolphins seem to be focused on getting this rookie involved in the passing game after switching coordinators prior to this week's game.

Richard Rodgers, Tight End, Green Bay Packers

With 25 catches over the past five games, it's rather obvious that Rodgers has started to play a large role in the Packers' passing attack. He tallied eight catches for 146 yards and a score, including the game-winning catch on a Hail Mary, against the Detroit Lions on Thursday.

With 48 receptions and six touchdowns through 12 games, you will probably be surprised to learn that Rodgers is the ninth-best fantasy tight end this season. You don't usually find that type of production on the waiver wire. Do something about it.
