1. C.J. Anderson, Denver Broncos
FanDuel: $7,800
DraftKings: $6,800
The old Anderson seems to be back, the running back everyone loved as a future fantasy force reappeared in the Broncos' opener. Now he faces the Indianapolis Colts, who had one of the worst defenses in the NFL last season. Given how iffy Trevor Siemian is as a quarterback, Anderson will get a lot of looks, especially in a game where the Broncos should be heavy favorite and use the ground-and-pound. The matchup, the game flow and Anderson's talent all point in the direction of a 100-plus yard, two-touchdown game.
2. David Johnson, Arizona Cardinals
FanDuel: $9,000
DraftKings: $7,600
The debate for most gifted running back in the NFL really comes down to Johnson and Le'Veon Bell. Johnson is almost always going to be a top three fantasy back, even in a matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that could be a little tougher than some expected. Tampa Bay allowed just 2.4 yards per attempt last week to Atlanta's running backs and had the second-best yards per attempt allowed last season, 3.4, to opposing running backs. But despite the difficult matchup, Johnson should still be able to bust one loose and do enough as a receiving back to remain an elite fantasy back in Week 2.
3. Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys
FanDuel: $7,900
DraftKings: $7,300
Elliott admitted he wasn't pleased with his NFL debut as he totaled just 51 yards on 20 carries, though he did find the end zone. The matchup this week should be a little bit easier for Elliott and the Cowboys' offensive line, especially after Washington allowed 147 rushing yards last week to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Elliott will have a great unit in front of him creating holes and with his talent, we could be looking at Elliot's first career 100-yard rushing game.
4. Lamar Miller, Houston Texans
FanDuel: $7,700
DraftKings: $7,200
Not that we needed any reassurance, but from a fantasy perspective it was great to see Miller receive over 30 touches in his Texans' debut. The matchup against the Chicago Bears yielded very positive results, now he faces the Kansas City Chiefs. Last week, Kansas City allowed 155 rushing yards and two touchdowns to Melvin Gordon and Danny Woodhead. Miller is the superior back and should make his first trip into the end zone as a Texan on Sunday.
5. DeAngelo Williams, Pittsburgh Steelers
FanDuel: $7,600
DraftKings: $7,100
Williams may be up there in age, but he seems to just keep putting up great numbers. Bell's suspension will last another two games, which just allows Williams to take further advantage of his heavy workload. The Bengals were shredded by the running game last week against the New York Jets and surrendered one of the highest yards per carry. Williams' workload, in addition to a back and forth game, has him poised to take advantage of this matchup.
6. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
FanDuel: $8,200
DraftKings: $7,000
Simply put, Peterson's performance against the Tennessee Titans was ugly. 19 carries for 31 yards, just an ugly performance from the former NFL MVP. Shaun Hill's presence at quarterback means a stacked box by opponents and limited room for Peterson to run. But AP does have a great history against the Packers, who are weak on the interior defensive line and have been gashed up the middle by opposing running attack's before. Peterson just has to be hoping Sam Bradford is ready soon so he can have someone competent behind center.
7. Spencer Ware, Kansas City Chiefs
FanDuel: $6,800
DraftKings: $6,100
Ware was built up heavily last week for a big rushing game and he did pretty well with 70 rushing yards and a touchdown, but no one saw nearly 130 receiving yards coming from Ware. He showed he can do it all and that's especially great for fantasy owners, especially since it appears Jamaal Charles is likely going to be out in Week 2. The Texans have a solid defense, but Ware has shown with a full workload, he can put up top-10 numbers.
8. Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
FanDuel: $7,100
DraftKings: $5,900
Martin turned in a strong outing last Sunday with 96 total yards, showing off his worth even in PPR scoring. The matchup ultimately ended more towards the passing game as Jameis Winston threw for four touchdowns and we could see more of that again, but Martin should still put up numbers against Arizona. It's more difficult to compare New England's rushing performance against them, given how different Martin and LeGarrette Blount are as runners, but Martin should have success in his own way and can finish as a top-10 fantasy back.
9. Rashad Jennings, New York Giants
FanDuel: $6,300
DraftKings: $5,600
Jennings is one of my favorite running backs this week, in part because I want to get my hands on as many shares of Giants players in my DFS lineups this week. In Week 1, the Saints allowed 167 rushing yards to the Oakland Raiders, even after there were points during the game when Oakland had to turn to the passing game to try and catch up to the Saints' offense. Now the Saints are on the road, are going to get stomped on by Jennings and diced up by Eli. Get all the Giants' shares.
10. Eddie Lacy, Green Bay Packers
FanDuel: $7,000
DraftKings: $6,000
While Aaron Rodgers should put up some good numbers against the Vikings, there's plenty of reason to have good expectations for Lacy. He continues to look good running the football and while Minnesota allowed just 64 rushing yards last week, the Titans fell behind due turnovers returned for touchdowns. That certainly shouldn't happen here and if the Vikings start Hill at quarterback, this is a game Green Bay should win handedly and they can feed Lacy to tire down the Vikings' defense and eat up clock.
11. Latavius Murray, Oakland Raiders
FanDuel: $7,100
DraftKings: $5,700
Last week, Murray kept fantasy owners happy with 73 total yards and a trip to the end zone. It could have been even better, but some game situations in addition to Jalen RIchard ripping off a long touchdown run, kept Murray from it. In his matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, who surrendered 137 total yards to Tampa Bay's running backs and we can see Murray have a quality game with the ceiling of 80-100 yards and another trip to the end zone.
12. Thomas Rawls, Seattle Seahawks
FanDuel: $6,600
DraftKings: $5,500
After splitting carries with Christine Michael in Week 1, the Seahawks' coaches made it clear Rawls is the Seahawks' starting running back and it's his role for Week 2. Rawls received 15 touches against the Miami Dolphins and he was alright. But he should see a larger workload not only because he is now back as the starter, but this is a game the Seahawks should easily win and dominate the Rams.
13. Ryan Mathews, Philadelphia Eagles
FanDuel: $6,300
DraftKings: $5,800
Mathews not only walked out of his matchup against the Cleveland Browns with some good fantasy numbers, more importantly he walked out healthy. Last Sunday, Mathews received 22 carries and turned it into 77 yards and scored a touchdown. Efficiency wise it's not what you're looking for, but 13 fantasy points is more than acceptable. Now with a matchup against the Chicago Bears in a game that should go back-and-forth, Mathews has another chance to put up a strong fantasy line.
14. Jeremy Langford, Chicago Bears
FanDuel: $6,500
DraftKings: $4,600
As mentioned with Mathews, this is a game that should go back-and-forth, so there shouldn't be any significant risk to these running backs losing touches due to the flow of the game. Philadelphia was largely attacked through the air by Cleveland last week, but still surrendered 5.6 yards per rush. In a closer game we should see the Bears use their running game much more frequently and as a result, we could see some very nice numbers from Langford.
15. Jonathan Stewart, Carolina Panthers
FanDuel: $6,400
DraftKings: $5,400
While Todd Gurley was stuffed repeatedly by the 49ers' defense, there's a major difference between that situation and this one. San Francisco won't be able to stack the box, they'll be much more focused on stopping Cam Newton. Stewart will still see his workload of carries, especially if Carolina takes an early lead. The Panthers should make a few trips near the goal line and Stewart is always a great bet to punch it in when given the opportunity.
