Fantasy Football Review: #98, Brian Hartline

Brian Hartline, Wide Receiver, Miami Dolphins (No. 98).

This former Ohio State standout was a surprise fantasy performer during the 2012 regular season. He jumped on to the scene against the Arizona Cardinals and Patrick Peterson with a ridiculous 253-yard performance.

Unfortunately for Hartline, he never came anywhere near that level for the remainder of the season. He put up triple digit yards just once more in the Cardinals final 12 games. In addition, Hartline scored only one touchdown on the season. That's definitely not going to get it done in terms of fantasy football.

As sure as we all were that rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill would have a disastrous rookie season, he came out and played damn good football for the most part. One of the primary reasons for this was Hartline's consistent production. He tallied at least four receptions 10 times during the regular season.

You can expect Hartline's fantasy production to increase in 2013 if he does return to Miami. The impending free agent has built a solid connection with Tannehill, which only promises to get better with time. Of course we are going to have to wait and see whether he does return to the Dolphins. If not, his landing spot will play a vital role.

As it is, Hartline needs to see his touchdown numbers go up if he is ever going to be more than a middle of the road FLEX option. That's where his value is right now.

Next up: Chad Henne, Quarterback, Jacksonville Jaguars (No. 97).
