Fantasy Football Slant: Ranking the Quarterbacks, Week 14 Edition

1. Carson Palmer, Arizona Cardinals

Projected Stats: 330 passing yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions

A legitimate MVP candidate, Palmer also finds himself among the top fantasy performers thus far this season. He's averaging 21.6 points per game — a number that ranks him third among quarterbacks heading into Week 14.

Overall, Palmer is averaging 300 passing yards and about 2.5 touchdowns per game. With just nine interceptions in 12 games, the lack of negative points also play a role here.

While Palmer will be taking on a Minnesota Vikings defense that has yielded the 11th-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this year, there is no reason to believe Palmer won't put up yet another big game.

2. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks

Projected Stats: 250 passing yards, 50 rushing yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions

With 11 touchdowns compared to zero interceptions over the past three games, Wilson is playing the best football of his career. This recent performance also has him as the seventh-best fantasy quarterback on the season, coming in No. 1 overall in that category over the past quarter season.

Taking on a Baltimore Ravens defense that ranks in the bottom 10 of the NFL against fantasy quarterbacks, it makes perfect sense for Wilson to put up yet another stellar fantasy outing come Sunday. The only question here will be whether the game is going to be so much of a blowout that Seattle shuts it down relatively early.

3. Tom Brady, New England Patriots

Projected Stats: 350 passing yards, three touchdowns and one interception

There has to be a concern over injuries in New England. From a fantasy perspective, Brady being without both Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman is huge for his fantasy stock. With all that said, Brady still put up three touchdowns en route to finishing as the third-best fantasy quarterback last week.

Despite putting up some dominating recent performances, the Houston Texans still rank in the bottom half of the NFL against fantasy quarterbacks. Coming off two consecutive losses, the expectation here has to be that New England will continue to rely on Brady big time in this one. If so, he will put up his normal fantasy performance.

4. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

Projected Stats: 240 passing yards, 40 rushing yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions

With two five-touchdown games in his past three outings, Newton is playing at an incredibly high level. He's also the second-ranked fantasy quarterback heading into Week 14.

Taking on an Atlanta Falcons defense that ranks second in fantasy points allowed to the quarterback position, it isn't necessarily going to be an easy outing for Newton. However, his recent success, even against elite competition, tells us a story of a quarterback that isn't going to struggle against any defense the way he's currently playing. Look for a big game here.

5. Blake Bortles, Jacksonville Jaguars

Projected Stats: 360 passing yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions

Quarterbacks that Bortles ranks ahead of in fantasy points: Russell Wilson, Philip Rivers, Drew Brees and Derek Carr. Let us not make the mistake of assuming a mediocre real-life quarterback can't be an elite fantasy option.

On pace for 4,365 passing yards with 36 touchdowns, Bortles has seen himself put up an above-average fantasy performance in all but two starts this season.

Bortles will have the pleasure of taking on an Indianapolis Colts defense that ranks in the bottom eight of the NFL against fantasy quarterbacks. Look for another big outing.

6. Tyrod Taylor, Buffalo Bills

Projected Stats: 250 passing yards, 30 rushing yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions

With seven total touchdowns over the past two games, Taylor finds himself back on the fantasy radar for the first time since early this season. The main reason for this is that he's actually 100 percent healthy.

There should be some concern over passing yards (217.4 per game) but the 20 touchdowns and four interceptions Taylor has put up on the season more than makes up for that. Taking on an Eagles defense that has given up the third-most fantasy points to quartrterbacks this year, Taylor should have another big game.

7. Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Projected Stats: 260 passing yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions

Winston has played darn good football for a rookie quarterback. Though, it hasn't necessarily translated to the fantasy football world. With 22 total touchdowns through 12 games, Winston finds himself as the 14th-best fantasy quarterback heading into Week 14.

As has been the case for a vast majority of the season, it's all about matchups here for Winston. Taking on a New Orleans Saints defense that has given up an average of over 300 passing yards with 35 touchdowns compared to six interceptions on the season, it's readily apparent that Winston will put up an absolutely huge performance at home against the worst defense in the entire NFL.

8. Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers

Projected Stats: 330 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception

With four consecutive games of 300-plus passing yards, Big Ben has been playing some darn good football recently. And while he did put up some big yardage numbers earlier in the year, the future Hall of Fame quarterback is actually racking up touchdowns at a higher clip recently. He's thrown eight touchdowns over the past three games compared to seven in his first five outings.

Now that the Steelers are in the midst of a ridiculous offensive stretch that has seen them gain an average of over 530 total yards over the past four games, Big Ben should find a way to put up some big numbers against a game Cincinnati Bengals defense.

9. Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals

Projected Stats: 260 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception

Probably one of the biggest surprises of the fantasy season thus far is the fact that Dalton finds himself as a top-five quarterback heading into Week 14. In fact, he's found a way to put up an above-average fantasy performance in all but two of his starts this season.

Taking on a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that still ranks in the bottom 11 against fantasy quarterbacks despite improving in that category recently, Dalton should be able to act the part of a mid-tier QB1 this week.

10. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

Projected Stats: 230 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception

I am not terribly high on Rodgers this week. While he is the fourth-ranked fantasy quarterback on the season, 31 percent of those fantasy points came in his first three games. Over the course of the past nine games, Rodgers finds himself outside of the top-14 in this category.

To make matters more interesting, the Dallas Cowboys have given up the fifth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks on the season.
