From here at eDraft we wish you all a happy holiday season and a Merry Christmas. In being festive with the season, we thought it made sense to focus on a few different "stocking stuffers" as they relate to the final week of the 2012 NFL regular season. Let's take a gander at a few different things we believe you should take a look at in your fantasy football championship if your league is still playing.
Calvin Johnson vs. Brandon Marshall, Battle for No. 1 Fantasy Wide Receiver
Johnson leads Marshall by a half of fantasy point heading into their head-to-head matchup next week. Johnson also needs to tally 108 yards against the Chicago Bears in order to amass 2,000 on the season. Meanwhile, Marshall has a chance to actually finish the season as the No. 1 overall fantasy wide receiver. This is due to the fact that he has more than doubled Johnson's touchdown total.
Of course this game has playoff implications as well. Chicago needs to win and get help from other teams in order to acquire the sixth and final postseason spot. A huge game by Marshall will go a long way in helping it achieve that end goal.
Arian Foster vs. Indianapolis Colts Rush Defense
Indianapolis has given up over 500 rushing yards in the last two games, including a whopping 352 yards to the Kansas City Chiefs last week. It must now go up against Foster, who is the second-rated fantasy running back in the NFL but is coming off a game that he had to leave early with an irregular heartbeat. Houston needs to win this game in order to clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC, so you can definitely expect them to rely a great deal on Foster.
Adrian Peterson Looks for Rushing Record vs. Green Bay Packers
After a lackluster effort, by his standards last week against Houston, Peterson now needs to gain 208 rushing yards in order to break Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record. While this is a tall order, Peterson has gained over 200 rushing yards in two of his last four games, including a 210-yard performance against these very same Packers in Week 13. It's just hard to imagine him being able to have that type of performance for the second time in four weeks against a division rival with playoff seeding and postseason positioning on the line.
If Peterson is able to tally over 200 yards in this game, it will indicate that Minnesota should be close and could pull off an upset victory in order to get the No. 6 seed in the NFC. This should be fun.
