Fantasy Football: The Buffalo Bills Defense Take Bad to a Whole New Level

Lost in the fact that the San Francisco 49ers broke a franchise record with 621 yards and an NFL record by going for 300 yards both on the ground and in the air is the fact that they also put up some record fantasy numbers.

Overall, the 49ers recorded 134 fantasy points. Alex Smith was the No. 1 fantasy quarterback, recording 28 points. Frank Gore ranked fifth among running backs with 16 points, while both Anthony Dixon and Kendall Hunter put up solid points at the FLEX position. Meanwhile, Vernon Davis was the second ranked tight end as Michael Crabtree put up WR1 numbers.

Simply put, you could have ran San Francisco out there as your fantasy team and would have come away with an astounding victory this week.

Leave it to the Buffalo Bills to make the San Francisco 49ers look like “The Greatest Show on Turf.” Seriously, it was like they were a JV team going up against a top-tier collegiate program.

They couldn’t generate a pass-rush, missed multiple tackles and didn’t even put up much in terms of coverage in the secondary. San Francisco might as well have been playing a seven-on-seven drill.

This comes on the heels of Buffalo allowing a total of over 250 rushing yards and 45 points (in the second half) against the New England Patriots.

While we can’t expect the Arizona Cardinals to put up these types of numbers next week, I would seriously consider starting Ryan Williams, Larry Fitzgerald and even Andre Roberts.

Last week I focused on the New Orleans Saints and Oakland Raiders as the two worst fantasy defenses in the NFL. Buffalo has now taken that to a whole new level.
