Colin Kaepernick, Quarterback San Francisco 49ers
Really? Are we really suggesting you pick up a quarterback of a team that's lost eight consecutive games? Are we really suggesting Colin Kaepernick could be the answer to your quarterback issues? Well, the stats tell us he's just that. Despite dropping a hotly-contested affair against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Kaepernick put up 265 total yards and two touchdowns without an interception. That's 210 passing yards and a score to go with 55 rushing yards and a touchdown.
This enabled Kap to finish Sunday's action as the eighth-best fantasy quarterback. This also comes on the heels of Kap finishing Week 9 as the fourth-best fantasy quarterback. In his four starts this season, Kaepernick has finished no worst than 15th in the weekly rankings and ranks eighth among signal callers in fantasy points during that span. There's a sample size large enough to look at him as a legit waiver-wire option.
C.J. Prosise, Running Back, Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks had indicated prior to Sunday night's game that they were looking to get this rookie move involved in their offense. Boy, did that come to fruition in the team's 31-24 win over the New England Patrots. Prosise ran the ball 17 times for 66 yards while catching all seven of his passes for 87 yards.
While Seattle is expecting Thomas Rawls to come back here soon, there's no reason to believe Prosise won't be given the bulk of the touches here in the short term. He saved a dying rushing attack in Seattle on Sunday, and will be given the benefit of the doubt moving forward.
Rob Kelley, Running Back, Washington Redskins
Washington had enough confidence in this rookie undrafted free agent from Tulane to get the job done on Sunday that it benched starter Matt Jones. See. Jones has been dealing with fumble issues, and simply didn't have the confidence of head coach Jay Gruden. Kelley responded by putting up 97 yards on 22 carries against a stout Vikings defense.
This came on the heels of him carrying the ball 21 times for 87 yards in Washington's last game. It goes without saying that Kelly is most definitely worth a waiver-wire look this week.
Cameron Brate, Tight End, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
We've been on this train for some time now, but it seems that the masses just aren't listening. Still widely available in 12-team leagues across the fantasy football world, Brate added another tremendous performance to his resume on Sunday. The Bucs' starting tight end hauled in all seven balls thrown in his direction for 84 yards and a score against the Chicago Bears. This enabled Brate to finish Sunday as the second-best fantasy tight end behind Delanie Walker.
Thus far this season, Brates is a borderline TE1 (11th in fantasy points) and has caught over 70 percent of the balls thrown in his direction. He's surely worth a shot on the waiver wire now.
Tyreek Hill, Wide Receiver, Kansas City Chiefs
While electric with his hands on the ball over the first eight games of the season, Hill simply didn't touch it enough to be considered a fantasy relevant option. That's until Jeremy Maclin had to sit out Sunday's action with an injury. Hill responded by catching 10-of-13 passes for 89 yards while adding a 13-yard run against the Carolina Panthers. This came on the heels of the rookie putting up 200 yards on 14 touches in the previous three games.
Even if Maclin is able to return here soon, Hill has to be considered a deep bench option. He was relied on more than Albert Wilson or Chris Conley on Sunday, and could now be considered the Chiefs's No. 2 receiver. Add in his prowess on the ground, and there's a lot to like here.
Jamison Crowder, Wide Receiver, Washington Redskins
Yet another player we've seen multiple times in this list. Yet another player that's still owned in less than 50 percent of 12-team leagues. If it doesn't make sense that's because it shouldn't. Filling in for the injured DeSean Jackson on Sunday against Minnesota, Crowder caught four passes for 37 yards and a touchdown on six targets.
Now, over the course of his past four games, the former Duke standout has brought in 23 passes for 314 yards and three touchdowns. You can do the math from here.
Rishard Matthews, Wide Receiver, Tennessee Titans
Here's a high-upside receiver that's likely falling through the cracks in the fantasy football world. Taking over as Marcus Mariota's favorite wide receiver, Matthews hauled in three passes for 63 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's blowout win over the Green Bay Packers. That's a league-leadin six touchdowns over the past six games for Matthews. Think about that for a second.
