Fantasy Football Week 13: Sit These Wide Receivers

Vincent Jackson, Buccaneers

It is hard to believe that Jackson only had two catches for 61 yards against a weak Lions defense.  We were all hoping he would reel in a few more and have a big day.  Unfortunately he didn’t and going into this week where he plays against a top Panthers defense which happens to be in Carolina.

Not very good circumstances if you ask me since the Panthers gave up their first receiving touchdown by a wide out this past Sunday in ten weeks.  Jackson will have his hands full so it will be difficult for him to get the ball in his hands.  I predict another low week for him.

Projection – Three receptions, 51 yards, zero touchdowns

Victor Cruz, Giants

This one is a bit of a stretch but for good reason.  Cruz has not found the end zone since Week 4 against the Chiefs.  Yes Washington has an awful defense but that doesn’t make me shy away from sitting Cruz.  In a PPR league he is an easy start due to the amount of receptions he receives.  But in standard leagues, Cruz is not worth as much due to his lack of ability to find the end zone.

Even with teammate Hakeem Nicks sitting out last week, Cruz still only had two catches.  This says a lot not only about him but about the lack of the passing game for the Giants.  Do not be afraid to take the chance of sitting Cruz for someone who has better opportunities.

Projection – Five receptions, 75 yards, zero touchdowns

Eric Decker, Broncos

For the third week in a row I have Eric Decker on my sit list.  He hasn’t found the end zone since Week 7 against the Colts.  The past three games have been tough for the Broncos and Peyton Manning who has been struggling as of late.  This upcoming matchup is no different where they travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs.

Decker was found more than I expected the last time these two met but this time I do not believe the same will happen.  Manning will once again be looking to get rid of the ball quickly due to that intense Chiefs pass rush and Decker usually isn’t involved in quick screens or quick slants.  Expect another slow day for him.

Projection – Three receptions, 32 yards, zero touchdowns

Riley Cooper, Eagles

Cooper has been the hot receiver in Philadelphia with quarterback Nick Foles at the helm.  Before the bye week, he has a weak outing at home against the Redskins where he only put up three points in standard fantasy leagues.  All of Coopers top performance games have been away from Philadelphia and this week the Eagles host the Cardinals who have proven that they have a pretty decent defense this season.

Cooper has been a wild card starter for most fantasy owners and would usually only start him if they had other receivers on their bye week.  Now that the bye weeks are over there shouldn’t be any reason to start someone like Cooper unless there is simply a better matchup for him.  This week there the matchup is not in his favor.

Projection – Three receptions, 40 yards, zero touchdowns

T.Y. Hilton, Colts

I am not exactly sure what happened to the Colts the past few weeks.  It seems like they are just collapsing.  This week they host the Titans whom they played just two weeks ago and beat by three on the road.  Hilton was held to five catches and 44 yards for that game.  It seemed that the Titans covered him up quite well which led tight end Coby Fleener to have a career day.

The Titans have not given up a touchdown to an opposing receiver since Week 2 which is very impressive.  If they shut down Hilton before there is no doubt that they can do it again.  This is why I have Hilton on my sit list for this week.

Projection – Five receptions, 60 yards, zero touchdowns
