Fantasy Football Week 14: Start These Five Quarterbacks

Week 14 is an important week in the football universe.  Teams are making their playoff-push, and a few are even looking to lock-up a spot in the post season.  This week also means the start of fantasy playoffs, and never in a million years, would I have ever dreamed that I would be recommending two rookies to start a fantasy playoff game; nor that the list would Lack the presence of fantasy-staples like Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers.  Peyton Manning would have also made this list, but he already played this week.
So without further ado, let’s jump in and see which five quarterbacks have the best shot at helping you lock down a win this week.

1.  Robert Griffin III, Washington Redskins
The number two-overall pick in this year’s draft, RG3 has blown everyone away with his ability to dismantle defenses on the ground and through the air.  The Redskins have done an amazing job of tailoring their offense to Griffin’s unique set of abilities.  He is second in the league with a 104.4 passer rating, has 17 touchdowns to only four interceptions and is the best fantasy quarterback with 270 points, averaging 23 per game.
The Ravens’ defense isn’t the same without linebackers Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs, struggling heavily to contain teams in their absence.  They should have a hard time figuring out and stopping Griffin, who looks to have a great day passing and rushing.
Projection: 24 points.

2.  Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts
Luck, the number one-overall pick, is pushing RG3 hard for the NFL Rookie of the Year Award.  He had a huge game last week against the Detroit Lions, proving that he can win big games on the road.  Luck averages 300 yards per game, has 17 touchdowns and does a great job of limiting turnovers at home.  He’s the seventh best fantasy quarterbacks this year, with 221 total points and averaging 19 per game.  Luck and the Colts play very well at home, and get to match up against their awful divisional rival the Tennessee Titans.
Projection: 23 points.

3.  Eli Manning, New York Giants
Manning plays his best football from this point forward, and should have a great day against the Saints’ lowly pass defense.
Projection: 22 points.

4.  Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers
Make no mistake, Kaepernick is the real deal.  Strange St. Louis match-up notwithstanding; Kaepernick is a very talented quarterback, with a rocket arm and the ability to take off and run 70 yards for a touchdown at any moment.  The ever-disappointing Miami Dolphins are just the team Kaepernick needs to get back on track.  Plus, historically; east coast teams traveling to the west coast don’t play well.
Projection: 22

5.  Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints
After the worst performance of his career, Brees desperately needs to get back on track.  While the talented Giants’ defense isn’t the best match up for a bounce-back game, Brees and New Orleans’ potent, high-octane offense should have a pretty solid day.
Projection: 17
