Joe Flacco, Quarterback, Baltimore Ravens
We touched on this last week and nothing has really changed. With Flacco set to take on the New England Patriots on Monday, he'll have another opportunity to prove his worth as a relevant fantasy option. The veteran is coming off a Week 13 performance against the Miami Dolphins that saw him put up over 380 passing yards and four touchdowns. This is the very same Dolphins defense that forced two Carson Palmer interceptions on Sunday.
Bilal Powell, Running Back, New York Jets
Matt Forte will undergo an MRI after exiting Sunday's win over the San Francisco 49ers with a knee injury. There's no telling what the MRI will show, but we should be working under the guise that Forte will miss some time. If so, Powell becomes an obvious waiver-wire add. He put up 145 yards and two touchdowns on 29 attempts aainst a hapless San Francisco 49ers defense on Sunday. While that might be more of an outlier than anything else, it's important to note that Powell was averaging 6.3 yards per rush heading into Sunday's action. He's now a must add with Forte injured.
Kenneth Farrow, Running Back, San Diego Chargers
Much like Forte in New York, we have no idea the extent of Melvin Gordon's injury or his status moving froward. One of the league's top backs this season, Gordon was carted off the field in Sunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers with a hip injury. And while San Diego seems optimistic that the injury itself is not too severe, Gordon will undergo an MRI on Monday. Until then, keep Farrow in your back pocket. The rookie put up 88 yards on 22 touches in Gordon's stead on Sunday.
Matt Asiata, Running Back, Minnesota Vikings
Asiata isn't going to be that sexy add. He's not going to be a threat to take it the distance every play. He surely won't be averaging five-plus yards per touch. But he's now getting the touches necessary for him to be considered fantasy relevant. In Sunday's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Asiata put up 51 yards and a touchdown on 13 touches. This is the first time in five games that Asiata has put up double-digit touches. That could be a sign of things to come for a Vikings offense that's going to need to continue relying on the run game.
Dwayne Washington, Running Back, Detroit Lions
With Theo Riddick (wrist, ankle) inactive in Sunday's win over the Chicago Bears, Washington took advantage of his new-found role to the tune of 74 total yards on 17 touches. Both represented career highs for the rookie running back. Depending on Riddick's status, Washington becomes not only a waiver add, but a potential FLEX option Week 15 against a questionable New York Giants run defense. It's most definitely something to keep an eye on as the week progresses.
Ty Montgomery, Running back/wide receiver, Green Bay Packers
The do-it-all running back/wide receiver was at it again Sunday in a blowout win over the Seattle Seahawks. He caught 3-of-4 targets for 45 yards through the air while adding 41 yards and a score on nine attempts. This comes on the heels of Montgomery averaging less than 45 total yards in his past five games. It's a clear sign that the Packers are looking to utilize Montgomery more. If so, watch out.
J.J. Nelson, Wide Receiver, Arizona Cardinals
Don't look now, but it appears that Nelson has definitely hit his stride for the Cards. The second-year receiver put up 72 yards and a touchdown on just three receptions in his two games prior to this week. Sunday's game saw Nelson tally 64 yards and two touchdowns on just two touches, including a 56-yard touchdown run. While he won't see a high volume of touches, it's becoming increasingly obvious that Nelson's play-making ability makes him a decent under-the-radar fantasy option.
Cameron Meredith, Wide Receiver, Chicago Bears
With Marquess Wilson inactive on Sunday, Meredith stepped up big time for Matt Barkley in an narrow defeat at the hands of the Lions. He caught 6-of-8 targets for 72 yards and a touchdown. This comes on the heels of him putting up 67 yards against San Francisco last week. With six 49-plus yard outings in his past nine games, Meredith is becoming fantasy relevant, even with Barkley under center.
