The Chicago Bears suffered yet another injury setback on Wednesday, placing second-year receiver Kevin White on injured reserve. White suffered a severe high-ankle sprain that resulted in a fractured left fibula last week against the Detroit Lions. He's now out for a minimum of the next two months.
It's the latest setback for a Bears team that lost starting quarterback Jay Cutler and starting running back Jeremy Langford earlier in the season.
As with both Cutler and Langford, there's definitely a viable fantasy replacement for the injured White. Eddie Royal caught all seven passes thrown in his direction for 111 yards and a score against the Detroit Lions last week. That was good enough for him to rank sixth among wide receivers in fantasy points for the week.
If it hasn't happened already or your league has yet to open its waiver period, seriously consider picking up Royal off the waiver wire.
Interestingly enough, it surely does appear these new Bears starters are more viable than those who have gone down to injury, at least from a fantasy perspective.
Brian Hoyer has thrown for over 600 yards with four touchdowns and zero picks in two starts since Cutler went down. Meanwhile, rookie Jordan Howard has put up 234 total yards over the past two games.
Look for Royal to continue this trend with White now sidelined.
