Fantasy Impact: Panthers TE Greg Olsen Expected to Play in Week 14

After an early return that resulted in a minor setback with his foot, Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen is expected to return to the field on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. While the team listed him questionable on Friday's injury report, Olsen fully participated in practice over the past few days and will suit up against Minnesota.

Olsen, who suffered a broken foot in Week 2, returned to the field in Week 12 only to experience renewed soreness in his surgically-repaired right foot. It immediately raised concerns for Panthers fans and the fantasy football community, but no structural issues were found. While Olsen could have returned in Week 13, the team exercised caution and kept him off the turf in New Orleans, opting to buy him an extra week so he could return on a grass field.

This time around, Olsen will not be on a snap count. Panthers coach Ron Rivera indicated Olsen would play a full amount of snaps this week against the Vikings and the team wouldn't limit him in any way, boosting his upside for fantasy owners. While it's a tough matchup against a Vikings' defense that allowed the eighth-fewest receiving yards this season to opposing tight ends, Carolina lacks in offensive weapons for Cam Newton to throw to.

As a result, Olsen is back on the fantasy radar as a top-eight tight end option this week. Given some of the inconsistency from the position, Olsen isn't more of a red flag risk than other options.
