Fantasy Slant: Bills WR Anquan Boldin Retires

Just a couple short weeks after signing on with the Buffalo Bills, veteran receiver Anquan Boldin has called it quits for his career. It was a shock to the Bills and the rest of the NFL.

It also comes shortly after Buffalo made two separate trades, moving Sammy Watkins to the Los Angeles Rams and acquiring Jordan Matthews from the Philadelphia Eagles.

This pretty much shakes up the entire landscape of the Bills' offense from a fantasy perspective.

Matthews, who struggled with drops in Philadelphia last year, will now by the Bill's unquestioned No. 1 receiver. Meanwhile, we can fully expect rookie second-round pick Zay Jones to take on a starting role. The East Carolina product put up three catches for 42 yards in his second NFL preseason game this past week.

It's most definitely an interesting dynamic to look at.

Matthews did average nearly 900 yards and six touchdowns in his first three seasons in the NFL. He still boasts tremendous upside. And with more targets set to go his way, Matthews could break out big time.

But considering his struggles actually holding on to the ball last season and the Bills' questionable quarterback situation, it's definitely a buyer beware market.

On the other hand, star running back LeSean McCoy should see an uptick in production from a PPR standpoint. He caught 88 percent of the 57 passes thrown in his direction last season.
