Fantasy Slant: Ravens QB Joe Flacco Could Miss 3-6 Weeks with Back Injury

The bad news kept pouring in late Wednesday evening for the Baltimore Ravens as they start training camp. Fresh off news that second-year running back Kenneth Dixon will miss the entire 2017 campaign with a torn meniscus, comes this disturbing piece of information.

Starting quarterback Joe Flacco could potentially be out 3-6 weeks after suffering a disc injury to his back. He injured it lifting up something prior to the start of training camp itself.

There's no real reason to believe Flacco's regular season is in question. Though, the Ravens themselves likely won't provide much of an update until they get more information behind the scenes.

Typically, these types of injuries could force a player out for a couple weeks. Then again, we're not too sure about the extent of the injury itself.

Flacco is being relied on as a mid-tier QB2 option in standard fantasy leagues this upcoming season. Unless you're looking at streaming him with a low-end QB1 option, this likely won't mean a whole bunch in terms of preseason fantasy drafts.

Flacco, 32, put up 4,317 yards with 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions en route to finishing as the 20th-best fantasy quarterback last season. With Baltimore adding the likes of Jeremy Maclin and Danny Woodhead to the mix in the offseason, some project him to inch up a couple spots this upcoming season. This injury likely doesn't change that belief too much.
