Long rumored to be on the trade block, it appears that New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks could very well be dealt here soon.
According to Chris Mortensen, New Orleans has been engaging in trade talks with the Tennessee Titans and New Orleans Saints for the former first-round pick.
Cooks, 23, is coming off a 2016 campaign that saw him record 78 receptions for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns. This was good enough for Cooks to finish as the ninth-best fantasy receiver in the NFL. It also represented Cooks second consecutive 1,000-yard season with the team.
Statistically, Cooks was aided by the Saints' pass-happy offense under Drew Brees. While he did record 117 targets, the former first-round pick failed to finish among the top-25 receivers in target distribution. That's definitely red flag should he move on to a new team.
With that said, both Tennessee and Philadelphia are in need of a No. 1 receiver. The Titans also boast a plus-level young quarterback in Marcus Mariota while the strong arm of Carson Wentz in Philadelphia could help Cooks out big time here.
This is definitely something to keep an eye on as free agency gets going next week.
