Football is the furthest thing on the mind of New York Giants tight end Daniel Fells, who was placed on season-ending injured reserve with a MRSA infection last week.
Reports out of Giants camp had been muted since the news broke that Fells was infected. However, Bleacher Report's Jason Cole shed some light on the situation.
And it's tragic:
"According to a source close to New York Giants tight end Daniel Fells, the situation involving Fells is far more serious than what was originally reports, Cole said. "The infection in his foot is not just threatening the fact that he might lose his foot, it's been life-threatening. Doctors have in fact informed Fells that he may lose the foot to avoid a blood infection that would go throughout his body."
Cole went on to indicate that Fells has had a portion of his foot removed already. Though, the BR scribe did indicate that the tight end is in good shape but needs a few more days to see if the antibiotics will help him avoid losing his foot.
As Cole did say, Fells career is over.
Our thoughts go with the tight end as he goes through this most difficult ordeal.
