Joseph Randle Goes AWOL from the Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle was unlikely to play Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks after suffering a strained oblique against the New York Giants last week.

After reportedly going AWOL from the Cowboys on Wednesday, Randle's future with the team is now in doubt.

According to the Star-Telegram's Clarence Hill, Randle bolted from the team facility due to what a source close to the scribe called a "personal issue."

What makes this situation so interesting is that Randle apparently skipped a treatment session for the oblique injury — further putting his status for Sunday's game in question.

According to Hill, Randle will meet with the Cowboys on Wednesday:

"Per a source, a decision on his status with the team, let alone Sunday’s game, will be made then," Hill wrote. "Per a source, Randle did not leave the facility because he was upset about being surpassed on the depth chart by running back Darren McFadden, a move owner Jerry Jones announced Tuesday."

McFadden replaced Randle in the lineup on Sunday, going for 152 yards on 29 attempts. Even with Randle questionable for this week (prior to leaving the team), McFadden was named the starter for Sunday's game.

It remains to be seen why Randle went AWOL, but there have been some pretty big issues between himself and the team over the past year-plus. The running back was arrested twice in a four-month span from last October to February of this year — once for theft at a department store.

As Hill stated, Randle also drew criticism from members of the organization for calling out DeMarco Murray after the former Cowboys running back departed for the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency back in March.
